The short term hiccups can be treated at home with home-based remedies as follows

 

1. Try to make ice cubes to start eating slowly

 

2. Hold your breath. It will try to produce a calming effect on the diaphragm

 

3. One tablespoon of sugar may alleviate the hiccups

 

4. Try to have warm honey water

 

5. Close your ears for a short time

 

6. Clove intake may reduce the frequency of hiccups

 

What to do when hiccups are not treated with home-based remedies?

 

Stubborn or chronic hiccups are not a healthy sign; these must be treated by a supervisor. It is recommended to diagnose the underlying cause and apply the treatment accordingly.

 

 If the root cause is mental or emotional instability, sessions with a psychiatrist are strongly recommended.

 

 Acupuncture or cupping therapy may be applied to reduce the inflammation

 

 Blood or laboratory work is also considered important

 

 Hypnosis can be used as a treatment option

 

 The rightful diagnosis and treatment of medical illness that is eventually causing hiccups is prime important.
