Voice refers to the form of a verb that indicates when a grammatical subject performs the action
or is the receiver of the action. When a sentence is written in the active voice, the subject
acts; the subject receives the action in the passive voice. In academic writing, choosing an active verb and pair it with a subject that names the person or
thing doing or performing the action is preferred. Active verbs are stronger and more emphatic than
forms of the verb “be” or verbs in the passive voice.
Here are some examples of voices:
Ram sells books here( active voice)
Books are sold here( passive voice)
From the above examples, we have seen many books stores, where there is a board on the top of the store. And we have often seen one of the sentences on the board, i.e., Books are sold here.
Ram sells books in-store, or Shyam sells books in the store generally does not matter. Because customers will not remember who sold them things, they will only remember what is being sold in the store. And this is how Passive voice comes into the picture.
