Today, almost 50 percent of the population uses a smartphone, and they use maps on their mobile phones. Everyone uses google maps, but some do not have an idea which map they are using. In this article, we will discuss maps and their uses.

In this article, we will discuss in brief maps and their uses. As in the present generation, most of the population uses Android mobiles, and they often use maps on their phones. So they might have some idea of maps. But in this article, we will get maximum subject about maps.

What is Map:

The map is a digital presentation of road or train, or river networks drawn on a flat surface,ce which gives information about the world in simple and visual representation. These maps can be viewed in 7 types and which are explained in detail below.

We will discuss in brief the types of Maps:

1. Street View:

Street View was launched in 2007. It is a digital presentation of the nearest places on Google Maps; it consists of hundreds of images shot by several contributors and employees. Google Street View is an extraordinary technical feature built-in Google Maps and Google Earth which provides useful street information.

2. Terrain:

Terrain Map is known as contour maps or topo maps. It is represented by a Topographic map, which is represented by lines color-coded with added cartographic symbols. These maps are mainly prepared by surveys.

These Terrain maps are majorly used for calculating the heights of Himalayan peaks and particular views over hundreds of kilometers from the top view.

3. Biking:

Biking map is designed for Bike maps which included features like lanes, bike paths, bike shops, bike routes, and major hills are also added in it. In the past, biking maps are made by drawing the bicycle routes and footpath routes.

4. Traffic:

Traffic maps represent the live traffic condition on the road, as it was presented with colored lines show the traffic maps. 
We have a certain specification for indicating traffic condition like:

i) Red Line
ii) Yellow Line
iii) Green Line
iv) Grey Line
v) Red-Black Line

These can be explained in brief below:

i) Red Line:
Red Line indicated the highway traffic that is moving at less than 30 km per hour.

ii) Yellow Line:
Yellow Line indicated that traffic is moving fast with a speed of 40 to 70 km per hour.

iii) Green Line:
GreenLine indicates the traffic is moving very fast, moving with a speed of more than 50 km per hour.

iv) Grey Line:
Grey Line shows that there was no traffic information available when we opened the traffic map.

v) Red-Black Line:
The red-Black Line shows that the traffic movement is prolonged when compared with other color indications.

5. Transit:

The transit map shows the schematic representation of transportation maps like railway stations and bus transportation. This Transit map has the theme of helping the users to use the public transport system. These maps may not be so accurate when compared with other maps as these are geographically accurate. 
The major purpose of this Transit map is to help passengers, especially those who are not familiar with the system. This map uses symbols to indicate the stations and boarding points. This color-coding helps users to identify each route easily and allows them to go to their destinations.

6. Satellite Maps:

Satellite maps are aerial photographs and other images of the earth that are taken from the top view.  This map is mainly for the representation of landforms, vegetation, and resources. These Satellite maps.
Which represents the normal road and building structures, where no digital network is added on it. This helps to see the accurate shape of buildings and route of road.

7. Default Maps:

Default maps represent the normal map representing the places (Building) and road networks, which consists of any popular places like shops, cinema halls, plants, factories, apartments, etc.
