What actually is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

Definition of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The science of creating computers as well as additional devices with the ability to think, develop, and behave in ways that would typically require human intelligence or involve collections of information that are too huge for humans to process is known as artificial intelligence.

The AI is a vast area that includes a wide range of subjects, such as computer science, linguistics, neuroscience, data analytics and statistics, hardware and software engineering, philosophy, and psychology.

AI is a group of technologies used for data analytics, forecasting, object classification, natural language processing, recommendations, intelligent data retrieval, and other business applications. These technologies are mainly based on machine learning and deep computing.

Types of AI

Multiple organizational structures for AI can be achieved based on the stages of development or tasks carried out. Thus, it is widely accepted that AI development occurs in four stages.

  1. The Reactive Machines: TheAI with limited abilities that only responds to certain stimuli in accordance with predefined rules. lacks memory, making it unable to learn from new information. A reactive machine was IBM's Deep Blue, which defeated chess champion Garry Kasparov in 1997.
  2. The Limited Memory: The majority of AI in use today is considered to have limited memory. By being trained with new information over time—usually using an artificial neural network or a different training model—it can use memory in order to grow better over the years. A type of machine learning known as deep learning is regarded as AI with limited memory.
  3. The Theory of Mind: Mental theory although AI does not exist, its abilities is still being researched. It talks about AI that can imitate the human mind and make decisions just like a human would do, including remembering and identifying emotions and acting effectively in social environments.
  4. The Self-awareness: Looking beyond theory of mind AI, or self-aware AI, is the term that describes a supernatural machine with human-like mental and emotional capacities and awareness of its own existence. Self-aware AI does not yet exist, much like theory of mind AI.

Exactly the machine has the ability of represents an easier way to classify various kinds of AI in general. Because it can only carry out a limited range of tasks depending on its training and programming, everything that we currently refer to as AI is regarded as artificial "narrow" intelligence. An AI algorithm designed for categorization of objects, for example, is unable to process natural language. Narrow AI includes virtual assistants, predictive analytics, and Google Search.
