What 3 Things That Help You Motivate Yourself

The main reason we delay is because we are not motivated enough. And there is no single factor that determines motivation. In this article, we will discuss three factors that affect motivation.

I know I have to do some work like a certain job, or read a book or write books. But I usually postpone these appointments permanently, making various excuses.

The main reason we delay is because we are not motivated enough. Being a mentor to a crowd of young students with advanced MBA college skills allows me to be in a situation where I see a lack of motivation as one of the biggest obstacles in student life and career.

And there is no single factor that determines motivation.

Charles Handy talks about the 3 essential elements of motivational statistics.

I have to know my needs. This could be the need for security, money, food, clothing and shelter, or the need for friendship, or the need for approval, or the need to fulfill my debt to various people.

I have to know the result of any job that can satisfy all of these needs or some of these needs.

I must have the energy or resources (money, time, etc.) that I will use for those activities.

The above is repetitive. That is, if any of the three are absent, I will not be motivated.

If I don't know my needs, no job can motivate me.

If I do not have the strength or resources, I will not be able to finish the job satisfactorily.

If I do not know how to satisfy my needs, I will not be motivated.

So, I have to link the job (which I don’t like) to the need. For example, if I am afraid that I will fail a course, and as a result I need to succeed and remove my fears, I may combine the assignment with that need. If I need the approval of a partner, and a disgusting job will satisfy that need, then I will try to do the job.

We all know rich, successful outside professionals who lack self-confidence and, at least for a while, have the ability to think straight. Can you imagine how people should feel in the midst of a direct failure?

Instead, it makes sense to help them regain their balance. When this happens, when their ears, heart and mind are open, then you have the opportunity to teach a new skill.

Whether I complete the task or not depends on the resources I have. If I do not have the time, or I am too late to finish, then I am not encouraged to do the work, even if I know that the work will satisfy the need.

The same principle applies to motivating others. If I don't know someone else's needs, I can't give them a job, the result of which can satisfy the needs.

If I know his needs and can relate to the work I want him to do, and give him the means and resources (including training) to do the job, that person will be motivated.

Delete any of the three (requires Feature Articles, Tasks or Resources) and there will be no inspiration.
