Weight Loss Survey: Why Dieters Fail To Lose Weight

Current levels of overweight and obesity, along with weight-related illness, have made weight control a major health priority throughout the United States. Statistics show that the average weight loss on a traditional diet adds up to just 5-8 pounds per year. So why is dieting so difficult for us? According to a new survey (1), the answer looks like this: because we make 3 critical mistakes. We do not have enough incentives; We allow ourselves to be hungry; And we can not face the "bad days". The best finds of a weight loss survey conducted are, asked dieters to choose from the three biggest problems they face when dieting. The most common problems reported were: "adequate incentive to lose weight" (76%); "Hunger" (72%); And "bad days" (70%). While these results may not come as a surprise to many dieters, they do highlight the importance of motivation in the dieting process. We will look at how these problems occur and what steps can be taken to correct them. Why do we need encouragement? We gain weight by consuming more energy than we use. Whether we are eating too many calories or burning too little or both. So if we want to lose weight we need to improve our eating habits and exercise habits. And it's not so easy, because old habits can not be given up easily, especially if they are related to reducing our favorite treats. We need powerful encouragement to help us change. Specifically, we need to answer the question: "How exactly do I benefit from losing weight?" When faced with this question, most dieters have no answer. People who do this usually respond: "I'm getting better" or "My health is improving". Others explain that they are trying to please their doctor or their partner or that they are losing weight due to "being overweight". Unfortunately, none of these factors are strong enough for us to succeed. So when temptation comes, we cannot resist. What kind of incentive is best? Our motivation to lose weight should be based on selfish, specific gain. A good example of an upcoming beach vacation, or a family occasion or achieving a specific mobility or fitness goal. It should be as specific as possible (general benefits are useless) and ideal for a specific date. Moreover, it must be selfish. The advice for my clients is very simple. Do not worry about dieting unless you have good incentives. Because no matter how good the diet, no matter how valuable the exercise plan, you will not succeed unless there is a powerful reason to change your habits. Hunger Kills Diets Many dieters still believe that calories are their enemy. So the less you eat the faster you are likely to lose weight. This is not correct. In fact, the less we eat, the more hungry we are and the easier it is to fall into temptation. The human body is trained to eat when it is hungry and no amount of willpower can neutralize this basic desire. That is why overeating is a common response to low calorie foods. How to Avoid Hunger There is no difficult task. Avoiding hunger means eating regularly throughout the day and keeping your calories above 1000-1200 per day. It suppresses appetite, thereby reducing the urge to overeat and also helps in burning high calorie intake. Eat more rather than too little, there are days when we feel extra hungry even when we are dieting. This is not a problem - eat more! It is always better to eat a little more than enough. Can it help you lose weight? Yes. But what? Taking a few extra days to achieve your goal is not a problem. The real risk is not getting enough food and getting hungry and depressed. This is an intoxicating dish. The problem of bad days and satiety is that no dieter is perfect. The truth is, not all dieters experience "bad days" or the occasional temptation. Sadly, many dieters insist on being “perfect”. They cannot tolerate these errors. So if they go to a friend and eat 2 containers of ice cream and a box of cookies, they will be torn to pieces. "I'm useless!" They cry. "I failed!" Overflowing with guilt that it was not perfect, he left his food in disgust. Blame it on the damage. In this situation, the actual overdose is usually harmless. I mean, to gain a pound of weight we need to eat large amounts of food (3500+ calories). Subsequent offense causes real harm. And we need to address that. All dieters make mistakes and this is completely normal. Occasionally talking too much is not a cause for alarm, it is less guilt. Even my most successful clients who have lost 100+ pounds have common flaws. The difference is that they do not see themselves as "perfect" people. So they realized that they were "worthy" to make the occasional mistake and you should do the same. Once you accept it, dieting will be much easier for you. We need support to make these changes The first step that needs to be done is to get the right support to address the 3 issues mentioned above. No matter how important it is to choose the right diet plan, no matter how good the diet, it will not motivate you to stay on track - only individuals can do this. Dieting can be ten times easier if encouraged by others. So when choosing an online weight loss program, choose one with an active platform. Because at the end of the day, it’s about the people. When we are alone and lonely, the small obstacle looks like a mountain. But anything is possible if there are people behind us. Comments: 1. Weight Loss Survey by annecollins.com (October 2005).
