Brentford enjoyed one of the biggest wins of the round, crushing Birmingham City 6-1 at St Andrew’s.
Callum Wilson scored just six minutes into his full debut, while captain Nathan Collins found the net twice. Aaron Hickey, Mikkel Damsgaard and Igor Thiago also scored for the Bees.
Demarai Gray briefly gave Birmingham hope by equalising, but Brentford quickly regained control and completed a dominant victory.
Peterborough Shock Watford
League One Peterborough United produced a major upset by defeating Championship side Watford 5-1 at Vicarage Road.
James Clarridge’s own goal opened the scoring before Harry Leonard struck twice. Bolu Shofowoke and Harrison Jones completed Peterborough’s emphatic victory.
Watford head coach Alessio Dionisi made 11 changes to his team, a decision that ultimately proved costly as Peterborough took full advantage.
West Ham’s Teenager Steals the Spotlight
West Ham United also advanced in style, coming from behind to beat Southampton 4-1 at St Mary’s.
Nineteen-year-old Josh Ayala was the standout performer, scoring twice on his full professional debut. Léo Scienza had initially put Southampton ahead, but Ayala’s goals turned the game around.
Taty Castellanos and Jarrod Bowen added further goals to complete West Ham’s convincing win.

Norwich City received another boost when Ante Crnac marked his first appearance in 10 months following a serious knee injury by scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory over Cardiff City.
