Buyers typically buy few of these items, so they may be unaware of various scams. Car Scams. With cars in general, there are scammers who will try to get you to send money in advance for some reason. For some reason, some people don't hesitate to pay 50% or 25% of the money before delivery using relatively insecure payment methods, especially for cars. They claim that they want the other half of the money, so the seller apparently delivers it. But there was no car. Finding pictures of cars is not difficult. Experienced scammers have entire libraries of photos of different cars. The seller got your $5,000 free, so you can leave them all the negative feedback you want. They just open another eBay account to find their next sucker. Not an outright scam, but following the centuries-old tradition of used car dealers, you may find your car oversold, but it doesn't match the description. If this happens, please file a dispute on eBay and tell them the item was not as described. You may be eligible for a partial refund. Computer Fraud. COMPUTER If you bid on his auction but did not win, the seller may email you asking if you would like to purchase the same computer that he sold on her website. That's bad! If you want to be extra cautious, insist on depositing your money with an escrow service (eBay recommends escrow.com - don't use anything else unless you're sure). Honestly, it's generally a pretty bad idea to buy things like cars and computers off eBay in the first place. They are available everywhere, and the discounts are not that great.
