Why

Why are fibroids or uterine tumors? Symptoms and treatment:

Fibroids in general terms are uterine tumors, which mainly develop in the uterus or uterus of women and gradually spread along the outer and inner walls of the uterus. They are sometimes small or large in size and can lead to lower abdominal pain or heavier periods than usual. Sometimes fibroids in the uterus do not show any proper symptoms, i.e. no pain or discomfort in the body. But sometimes its symptoms are so abnormal that if not treated properly, it can later lead to problems such as difficulty in conceiving, weight gain, etc. However, there is still no exact information about why fibroids or uterine tumors occur or what is their source.

Different types of fibroids or uterine tumors:

1. Intramural Fibroids: This type of tumor is most common in women. It is found on the inner wall of the uterus and its size is quite large. Sometimes its size increases to such an extent that the swelling in one part of the abdomen is clearly noticed.

2.  Subserous fibroid: Occurs in the outer wall of the uterus, which is called "serosa". If it increases in size, the size of the uterus is likely to increase.

3.  Submucous Fibroids: Occurs in the inner lining of the uterus, this type of fibroid is seen in very few women.

Why are fibroids or uterine tumors?

1. It is difficult to say why a fibroid uterus or fibroid or uterine tumor occurs, but the following factors are assumed to have a special role in the formation of uterine tumors.

2. Two main hormones are secreted from the uterus namely estrogen and progesterone, these hormones play an important role in the formation of regular periods every month and are also particularly responsible for the formation of fibroids.

3. Fibroids are often hereditary, meaning they are most likely to develop if someone runs them in the family.

4. Due to pregnancy, the level of estrogen and progesterone in the body increases, so fibroids can develop and grow during this period. What are the risks of fibroids?

5. Also, there are certain factors that increase the chances of developing this disease in women. pregnant women

6. Fibroids or uterine tumors are likely. Fibroids are also more likely to develop in or after 30 years of age and are also more likely to occur as a result of excess weight gain. If fibroids are present in someone in the family i.e. mother, grandmother, or aunt then there is a risk of developing this disease again.

What are the symptoms of fibroid or uterine tumors?

Symptoms of fibroids mainly depend on the number and size of the tumor, such as submucosal fibroids, which can cause excessive bleeding during menstruation and can cause problems with conception.

1. If the size of the tumor is small or if someone has reached menopause, symptoms of fibroids are usually not felt. Fibroids often shrink on their own with or after menopause. The reason is that the two main female hormones estrogen and progesterone decrease in menopause, so they cannot affect the growth of fibroids.

2. Excessive bleeding during menstruation and often with clotted blood.

3. Lower abdominal or back pain

4. Abdominal pain or cramps during menstruation or periods

5. Pain or discomfort during intercourse

6. In many cases the period continues much longer than usual

7. How can fibroids be treated?

8. Symptoms of fibroids are sometimes noticeable and sometimes not felt. However, if the above symptoms appear, a doctor should be consulted immediately. If the doctor notices something abnormal, he may recommend a USG and pelvic MRI

With Medicine

As a treatment, several hormonal drugs are given, which mainly control the level of hormones like estrogen and progesterone and shrink the size of the tumor.

Anti-inflammatory pain relievers, such as ibuprofen tablets, are given to reduce pain.

Sometimes birth control pills are also used.

Surgery:

There is no special need for surgery in the initial stages of uterine tumors, but in some cases, if the size and volume of fibroids increase, surgery is taken, which is called myomectomy in medical terms.

Abdominal myomectomy involves cutting out the fibroids or tumor from the uterus through an incision in the lower abdomen, although this is also done laparoscopically, i.e. the tumor is removed through a small incision without making a large incision in the abdomen.

If there is a uterine tumor, what is important to keep in mind?

There is usually no cause for concern if the fibroid is at an early stage, but if it gradually increases in size, it is necessary to consult a doctor. Pregnant women should follow the doctor's advice regularly because during this period women have to face various problems. It is absolutely necessary for those who wish to conceive to discuss this in detail with their doctor beforehand.
