Understanding Brain Tumor - How is it caused? What symptoms occur?

Our brain is the seat of everything we are in. All the thoughts and actions we take are the outputs of our brain. Not surprisingly, the idea that illness attacks the brain can be horrifying. 

 Brain tumors are a rare but catastrophic form of cancer that accounts for 2% of all cancer cases worldwide. Brain tumors refer to the abnormal growth and division of cells in the brain. Brain tumors are either benign or cancerous, and cancerous brain tumors are further divided into primary brain tumors that begin in the brain and secondary tumors that begin elsewhere in the body and spread (metastasize) to the brain. 

 Whether benign or malignant, it can increase the volume of the brain and put pressure on the narrow cranial cavity. The skull bone is very hard and stiff. Intervention in this tight space increases intracranial pressure, which can lead to brain damage, coma, and even death. 

 Brain Tumor Types 

The major categories of brain tumor types are benign and malignant tumors. Benign brain tumors are the least aggressive and slowest growing tumors. They do not have cancerous cells and have a good prognosis after treatment. Benign brain tumors  usually  include: 

 Acoustic neuromas: These tumors occur in the vestibular nerve (the nerve from the inner ear to the brain). Ganglion nerve fibers: These central nervous system tumors are formed by neurons (nerve cells).  Meningioma: This is the most common type of primary brain tumor. Meningiomas develop slowly. They form in the meninges, a layer of tissue that protects the brain and spinal cord. In rare cases, meningiomas can become malignant. Pineal gland cell tumors: These slow-growing tumors are deep in the brain and form in the pineal gland, which secretes the hormone melatonin.  Pituitary noncancerous tumors: These tumors form in the pituitary gland at the base of the brain. The pituitary gland produces and controls hormones in the body. Pituitary noncancerous tumors are usually very small.

 Malignant or cancerous brain tumors arise from brain cells, supportive cells, and other tissue found in and around the brain. These are high-grade tumors. Grading for tumors involves rating a growth on a scale of 1 to 4 with low-grade scores being 1 and 2, and 3 and 4 are high grades. Benign tumors are less malignant, slow-growing, limited, less likely to spread, and less likely to recur after removal. Malignant or cancerous tumors, on the other hand,  are highly malignant, grow rapidly, spread to surrounding tissues, and are more likely to recur after removal. 

 Cancerous tumors are further divided into primary and secondary tumors. 

 Primary cancerous tumors develop in the brain itself, whereas secondary tumors are the result of metastases from tumors of other organ systems, usually the lungs. 

 Primary tumors are less common, and the most common types of primary brain tumors are gliomas and meningiomas. Gliomas affect glial cells. Glial cells are defined as cells in the brain that provide nutrients and structural support to neurons. Gliomas make up 50% of all primary brain tumors. 

 Symptoms of Brain Tumors 

 The brain is a large and complex organ. Symptoms of brain tumors depend on the size, type, and location of the tumor. Some common signs and symptoms are: 

 Headache. It usually gets worse in the morning and gradually gets worse over time.  Persistent nausea 

 Persistent vomiting 

 dizzy 

 Progressive weakness of the body  

 Malaise 

 Unexplained weight loss 

 Behavioral and mood changes 

 Sight problems 

 Confusion and memory problems 

 The specific symptoms depend on the size and location of the tumor. Based on this, you can notice some signs and symptoms. 

 Personality changes, impaired judgment, impaired judgment, etc. in frontal lobe tumors 

 Speech impairment, memory loss, and hearing impairment in temporal lobe tumors 

 Sensory disorders, progressive muscle weakness, etc. For parietal lobe tumors 

 Visual impairment or loss of vision in occipital lobe tumors. Loss of balance and coordination in cerebral tumors. Changes in breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate
