Google uses its technology to serve ads based on website content, user location, and other features. Those who want to advertise with a Google-directed advertising program can sign up with Google Ads. AdSense has become one of the most popular programs that focus on creating and placing responsive ads and ads on websites and blogs. Responsive ads [5] customize themselves based on user device size. These ads are less disturbing and the content of the ads is usually related to the site. Many websites use AdSense to monetize their content on the web (website, online videos, online audio content, etc.), and are a very popular advertising network. [6] AdSense proved to be particularly useful in generating advertising revenue for small websites that do not have adequate resources or other major sources of revenue. To display content-related ads on a website, webmasters place a short Javascript code on web pages. Content-rich websites have been very successful with this advertising program, as noted in the number of publishers' news studies on the AdSense website. Google has lifted the policy of limiting AdSense ads to three ads per page. Now, AdSense publishers can place a few AdSense ads on a page if there is enough content on the web page. According to Google’s guidelines for ensuring ad placement of ads, [7] advertising and advertising materials should not exceed the content of the page.
Some webmasters make great efforts to increase their AdSense revenue. They do this primarily by following [8] best practices:
They produce quality content that attracts and engages users and provides good user experience.
They follow webmaster guidelines.
They avoid overloading their website with ads.
They do not try to persuade users to click on the ads. Google prohibits webmasters from using phrases such as "Click My AdSense ads" to increase click-through rates. Accepted phrases are "Sponsored Links" and "Ads".
They do not link or redirect to malicious websites.
The source of all AdSense revenue is an ad program, which has a sophisticated price model based on Vickrey's second auction. AdSense requires the advertiser to submit a closed bid (i.e., a bid which the competitors may not recognize). Additionally, for any given clicks received, advertisers pay only one bid increase over the second highest bid. Google currently shares 68% of AdSense revenue with our content network partners, and 51% of revenue received by AdSense and AdSense Search Partners. [9] On June 18, 2015, Google announced the redesign of AdSense with a new log AdSense for video allows publishers with video content (e.g., video hosting websites) to generate revenue using ad placements from Google's extensive advertising network. The publisher is able to decide what type of ads are shown with their video inventory. Formats available include linear video ads (pre-roll or post-roll), overlay ads that display AdSense text and display ads over the video content, and the TrueView format.[17] Publishers can also display companion ads - display ads that run alongside video content outside the player. AdSense for video is for publishers running video content within a player and not for YouTube publishers.
