If you've been running AdSense ads on your site for a long time and think you're making less money than you can, you're 99.99% right. Most people are frustrated that they are not getting the expected income. This is due to the traffic level and click-through rate. There are several ways to convert your traffic to AdSense traffic, here is a brief list with a description of each method. The first thing you need to do is customize the content of your website. While this isn't an option for some people (and much more difficult if you run a forum, for example), most people can turn their AdSense site into a real cash register. First, you need to determine which keywords are being used on your site. This is a basic search engine optimization (SEO) technique known as keyword density testing. A good tool for this task is the SEO Density Analyzer. Then, with that list of words, you should search the Overture Search Inventory or the Google Ads sandbox to see other words that might work better than the ones you currently have. From now on, focus your site on the ones that appear primarily in the keyword suggestions you get. Include these keywords, or at least some related keywords, in the links on your site as often as possible. Similar to getting a better Google PageRank because of the way Google Ad sense works, it's a sure way to increase your revenue as you get better ads from your AdSense banners. It is also important to constantly add new pages to your site. This is very important because the more pages you have, the more likely your ad will be viewed. It is also very important to choose the right format and optimal placement for your AdSense banner. This is a much broader topic, but it should be noted that the three most commonly used Google AdSense formats are: 336x280 Large Rectangle, 300x250 Medium Rectangle, and 160x600 Skyscraper. Make sure you choose the appropriate colors for the ads, as making them too different from your site’s content (or just different in a bad way) is sure to make visitors regard them as banners which have nothing to do with the site itself. Make sure these ads are positioned where they’ll generate the highest amount of profit. Most times, that location is said to be right before the beginning of your site’s actual content. On pages with a long text body, you might find skyscrapers to do better, simply because users get exposed to them for more time. Also, for sites with news or similar items, you might find a good position to be at the bottom of your content, because that’s when people are finished reading your story and are looking for something else to do. You should use more Ad sense, units, if you have a lot of text on your page. Just make sure not to overdo it because you might find that you will get a lot lower ctr and lower revenues Than you were getting in the first place by employing this technique inappropriately. You can add as many as three units, so use them wisely. There’s a Google AdSense Preview Tool that will let you visualize what ads would get served on your page, and it can come in very handy as a testing mechanism. Just make sure you respect the ad sens, policy regarding click fraud. You can place an image next to your ad as a signpost. Leave some space between your images, so they don't appear to be convincing your visitors to click on your link. Of course, there are other ways to increase AdSense traffic on your site, but this should be a good starting point for maximizing your revenue.
