Travel from or to the UK for non-essential visitors will be prohibited, and quarantine will apply once in France and for how long?

French health authorities say that although the faster rate of spread in Britain was not immediately linked to the strain, a deadly real-time monitoring system has detected the new variant spreading fast.

France is adding the exemption of some types of travel on its international airports from Wednesday, notably in northern France.

Health Minister Olivier Verna urged the French population to avoid non-essential trips that were identified to come from Britain as a possible source of the spread.

The latest addition will focus on travel to the European Union’s common travel area. Limiting the number of movements in and out of the Schengen area, allowing local transportation within the area, and insulating the transit region from being clogged up with travelers from outside the zone were also being considered, Verna said. 

France was also imposing a temporary ban on flights from the UK, where the variant was already rising rapidly. The French ministry of health asked any French citizens who had already traveled to the UK on a given day to self-isolate.

Britain closed its borders on Sunday, later issuing an emergency travel ban to 20 other countries, including Spain, Cyprus, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Denmark, France, Poland, Portugal, Iceland, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Fiji, Russia, and Rwanda. 

On Tuesday, the European Commission said, “The EU is mobilizing quickly to ensure the smooth integration of a common approach, and hopes that the European Union and Council have in place appropriate support for the introduction of such measures. ”

The increasing case number is due to infections in London and the southeast of England, fuelled by the COVID-19 variant first identified in the UK. Italy has also recorded more than 4000 cases of the variant first detected in Britain. According to the UK’s health ministry, it is yet to be confirmed whether the variant accounts for 40 percent or 50 percent of current infections in the UK.

According to data from a recent week-long government survey. One particular concern is the variant’s connection to increased transmission of a strain of the virus initially detected in Brazil. This week, the Health Ministry of Piedmont reported 8,383 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the Piedmont Diocese reported that 14,977 people are suspected of having the Brazilian variant.

Advertisement While the data from Brazil has yet to be confirmed, it was reported that the variant is more transmissible than other strains of the virus. The data from Piedmont and the Piedmont diocese did not include the rolling seven-day infection numbers from previous days, as this would make it hard to distinguish between two separate studies. In Piedmont, near Naples, South Liberian and  Vesuvius hospitals have been asked to start work on genetic tests of COVID-19 patients, and residents have been asked to stay in their homes unless it is necessary.
