Ritesh Agarwal's journey from college dropout to becoming a billionaire is inspiring. Indian billionaire Ritesh Agarwal, 28, is the founder and CEO of OYO, the world's most affordable hotel chain. He began his journey at the age of 20 with the vision of creating solutions for people looking for affordable hotels around the world, and he is on the road to success in achieving this goal.

How Ritesh Agarwal Founded OYO

Ritesh has been a tech fan from a very young age, starting programming at the age of 10. Another hobby was traveling around the world. Traveling in India, he realized that he needed a cheap hotel with decent service in India. Cheap hotels do not offer essential services such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, comfortable beds and breakfast facilities. This gave him an intuition that he needed to do something to solve the problem, and he combined his love of travel with his obsession with technology to do useful things. It was difficult at first because I didn't know anything about starting a business, but when I made a plan and showed it to some investors, I received $100,000 in funding and started my own business.

First Initiative

Entrepreneurship is not a destination, it is a path to continuous learning and improving your knowledge and skills. Ritesh started his journey with the launch of Oravel Stays, which helps people find and book cheap hotels nearby. This cheap hotel list helped travelers find cheap hotels, but it didn't serve the purpose for which Riteish founded the company. He soon realized he needed to do an in-depth study of hotel services to solve this problem, so he started touring all over India and visited almost hundreds of hotels. Afterwards, he discovered that the main problems of the hospitality industry were non-standard service and unpredictability, and he decided to solve these problems with the help of OYO.

OYO Concept

Many people don't know that "OYO means "Self". Then Ritesh modified the old business model and replaced it with a much better one. Now known to everyone as OYO Hotels. They started offering affordable rooms with standard amenities at more than 1000 hotels across India, and OYO doesn't own any of these hotels. This concept made Ritesh Agarwal a billionaire at the age of 23.
