Most of the computers you will find in the store have additional software installed. While this is easy and quick, it is not always the best way to save money. If you are not a computer "techie", the extended guarantees offered by computer vendors often sound like a good idea. After all, it is a nuisance to pay for a computer service after buying it. But keep in mind that most computers come with a warranty, and with most computer problems will occur sooner (when you have a valid warranty) or later (when it may be cheaper to buy a new computer). Technology is changing very rapidly these days. So consider whether it is worth the money for an extended warranty. Also, if you really feel you need an extended warranty, then try to bargain for it in order to get a lower price. Not all vendors will negotiate a warranty, but some are lenient in these matters. And whether you buy an extended warranty or not, make sure you back up all your files from time to time, if possible!
If you have an unlimited budget, consider yourself lucky. However, if you do business on a computer, make sure you get what you need while trying to keep the price as low as possible. At any rate, buying something that is way too over-kill for simple tasks and buying something that is too weak for the task at hand is both a waste of precious time and money.
