Arizona Sunshine is a fully immersive zombie survival game where you need to explore the world to scavenge precious supplies of the ammo you need to survive, and where every shot counts because guns are realistically inaccurate and tough to reload. It can be a little linear and shallow, but it definitely drew us in.

 Astro Bot: Rescue Mission

  Unlike anything else

Sony Japan’s Playroom VR compilation held a lot of delights when it launched on PSVR in 2016, but everyone agreed that the third-person platforming mini-game, in which a small robot saved his friends with help from the player, deserved its own title. Astro Bot is the result of those requests, and it’s even better than many had imagined it would be. 26 levels of Mario-quality platforming await you here.

It sounds like hyperbole, but it’s true; each one of Astro Bot’s levels packs new ideas that range from endearingly novel to properly groundbreaking. It’s an absolute joy to play from start to finish that never ceases to amaze you. Plus, there’s power to the bond you’ll form with Astro on this adventure, breaking down the barrier between players and characters in ways not yet seen in gaming. For that reason, we’re crowning it as one of the all-time best VR games.

 Batman: Arkham VR

  Become The Dark Knight

 Though the franchise may have already concluded on conventional platforms, Batman: Arkham VR is the follow-up to Arkham Knight virtually none of us were expecting. 

Not long after Rock steady Studios revealed its third entry in the Batman Arkham universe would be its last, the developer announced this exclusive to PlayStation VR that would later make its way to PC VR headsets. 

 Batman: Arkham VR is more of a self-contained detective story than a canonical sequel or prequel to the established Arkham mythos, and you won’t be knocking goons unconscious with a VR-reimagined version of Rock steady’s signature combat mechanics. However, you can expect a 90-minute, DLC-sized story mission at a fraction of the cost of a full-priced game that turns you into the caped crusader himself.

 Beat Saber,

  The best VR rhythm game

 Beat Saber is the one rhythm VR game that has practically become the poster child for VR. Wielding a saber in each hand, players literally slash away the beats of various songs while avoiding obstacles in their path. The song collection is vast and ranges from pure rap, hip-hop to adrenaline-pumping EDM tracks. The beats are in the form of blocks and are color-coded, so you will need to be careful about which saber you use.

Elite Dangerous VR,

  A journey through space

 The franchise might be over thirty years old, but age doesn't stop the Elite franchise from being home to one of the best VR games to date, thanks to creator David Braben's fight to reacquire the license.

 Drawing elements from the first game – e.g. trading, exploring and engaging in combat within a massive, procedurally-generated universe – Elite Dangerous is an Elite game for the 21st-century crowd. It's even represented as such in its depictions of our galaxy in the future.

 Oh, and did we mention the gameplay is massively multiplayer? Navigating the next frontier has never felt so real and connected. Elite: Dangerous is a game best experienced online and in VR.

  A watershed moment for virtual reality

 If you’re no stranger to the world of Half-Life, then Alyx is here to provide some more fun. Taking place 5 years before the event of Half-Life 2, HL Alyx is a VR game that is equal parts mysterious, funny and terrifying. Instead of Gordon Freeman, you play Alyx Vance in city 17., a survivor trying to defeat the Combine; the alien race that has taken over Earth. Alyx is a VR game that takes elements from the Half-Life universe and tops it off with its own interesting ones.

  Become an international super spy

 This game is the perfect James Bond simulator, putting you into the shoes of a bona fide international super spy on a mission to take down a criminal organization no matter what convoluted traps stand in your way.

 During this escape room-like experience, you’ll have to deflect hidden lasers, avoid heat-seeking missiles and serve drinks, so you can thwart the criminal mastermind before their plan comes together. The traps can leave you feeling more like Austin powers than 007, but even when you fail, the game is full of humor to keep you entertained.

With its delightful characters - including the brilliant voice acting of Will Wheaton - and spy-cliché filled story, I Expect You To Die 2 delivers a VR experience that will have you feeling like a super spy.

 Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

  Perfect with friends (or enemies)

 One of the very best VR games only requires one person to wear a headset. In Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, one player is in a tiny room, faced with a fiendish bomb to defuse. Everyone else has the hilariously complex bomb defusal manual, and both sides have to describe the bomb, and the instructions, before it explodes. A perfect party game.

 Lone Echo 2

  Experience zero gravity

Key Features: Mesmerizing story, Good characters, Decent puzzles

The sequel to Lone Echo hits the ground running with an equally exciting story, better graphics, and more object interactions.

There are a few reasons why it’s a rank lower than its prequel, however. The puzzles are quite a challenge at first, but they start getting easily solvable once you reach a certain point. The characters you meet are charming, but there’s barely any progression in their development.

While it’s fun, if you have options, it’s best to play the first Lone Echo first.

  Explore Minecraft in VR

 Minecraft has rarely ever needed an introduction. This massively popular world-building game has inspired players all over the world to create structures and homes that will awe everyone. The VR version of Minecraft is equally amazing and will teleport you to its amazing world. Depending on which version of Minecraft you play, you can use your controller to dig for materials, attack, and do a lot of other stuff. Just make sure to go underground before the night gets here.

  Another great Resident Evil VR game

 Even though RE4 itself has been around for quite some time, its VR refresh was not something people were expecting. As someone who played this game in VR first hand, I give it credit for being very scary. In Resident Evil 4, you play the role of a police officer named Leon Scott Kennedy. Leon has been sent on a secret mission to rescue the president’s daughter. She has been kidnapped by a religious cult that is slowly turning people into zombies.
