CSV is a standard file format that many consumers, companies, and other programs support. For instance, a lot of you Android users have CSV files stored with your phone contacts. What happens if you decide to buy a new Android phone, such as the S20, S10, S10+, or S10e from Samsung?
Section 1: Using CSV to Directly Import Contacts into an Android Phone
If you don't have a Gmail account, it makes no difference. I'll now show you how to import contacts from a CSV file straight into your Android phone using another method. However, you must first have an Excel CSV file on your PC. If you don't already have one, make one by following Step 1. If so, proceed on to step 2 and omit step 1.
First, on your PC, create an Excel CSV file.
Make a new Excel document and enter the contact details for your following contacts in the cells: Once completed, save it in CSV file format.
Step 2: Create a vCard file by converting the Excel CSV file.
- Open a web browser and log into your Google account.
- Pick "Contacts" from the menu on the left. To choose the CSV file, click "Select File" after selecting "More" > “Import.”
- Next, select "Import" from the pop-up window's menu.
- The Excel CSV has been moved to your Google account at this point. On your Android phone, you can see it.
- To export the Excel CSV file to a vCard format that works with your Android device, navigate to the left side once more and select the "Export" button.
Step 3: Google Drive uploads a vCard file
Open the browser, type in Google Drive, and sign in to your Google account. Look down to the left column, select "+New," and then "File upload." Select the vCard file that you exported in Step 2 after that.
Step 4: Download the Android version of the vCard file.
On your Android smartphone, download and open the Google Drive app, then sign into your Google account. Locate the uploaded vCard file, click on it, and select "Download." Your Android device will then begin to download it.
Step 5: Transfer contacts to an Android device.
Open the Android app Contacts. In the top right corner of the screen, click the three-dot symbol. Either choose Settings or "Manage contacts." Next, choose the vCard file by clicking the "Import/Export Contacts" button and selecting "Import" > "Internal Storage" > "Phone." Your Android device will then import the contacts.
Note: If you are using an Android phone with a different model, Step 5 can look a little different.
