Top Tips Simple Homeschool Success 

There is certainly a lot of home school information available and this is a good thing… especially… as long as you do not focus on loading and paralyze with analysis. There are many good articles and tips that can help you ensure your home school success.

So, from my own experience and learning about the experiences and advice of others, here are some, not only the best, but many tips for successful home schooling in general.

First of all just be happy. Make reading fun. It should be for children. Also, enjoy learning new things with your children. There is much in this world that we cannot control, so let us control what we can ... our attitude and how we deal with each day. Kids will absorb your mood and attitude like a sponge, so stay happy and energetic and your success will show that.

Next, limit (or remove) your distractions. This was my enemy.

In these years of communication we live in, distractions come to you everywhere, so you will need to stay focused. If you do not have a response device, get one. Close the rings.

Teach your family and friends about your home school program. And it is not just phones (included phone); it is the decline of visitors as well. Keep the time you spend at home teaching your children the most sacred.

And while I'm on this topic, this means you can't be a distraction for your kids. By this I mean you can’t run and do other things while your kids are trying to learn and complete their assignments and projects. Focus on your children's education at this time.

I have mentioned disability in previous reviews and this includes that. Keep your teaching and home school easy. With so much information and programs readily available to you, it's easy to find them using the educational program buffet, curriculum, and methods. Finally your kids and you will not like or benefit from this.

Be flexible, pragmatic if anything does not work, but do not be mercurial. And when it comes to parenting at home, you need to take steps to plan and make your life easier. During your home school year limit your responsibilities and outdoor activities ... keep your life simple and you will be very happy; and happiness comes with success.

Don't beat yourself up! Be confident. Know that you can do it. Your faith is your lamp. Reward is directly related to effort. If you do your best, your children will learn and succeed. Children learn all over the world in all sorts of places. Be enthusiastic with each new day, get help when you need it, keep improving, and your children's educational success will follow.

If you get stuck… read. Without reading skills your children will never reach their full potential. If your day is full of holes with random and uncontrollable life events ... take the time to read and study with children. There is no better protection from the uncontrollable day than to hug and read with your children.

There are many wonderful people involved in home teaching, and with today's technology it is very easy to get in touch with these essential resources, you should not go looking for advice, answers, or just some inspiring discussion and confirmation.

On the Internet there are forums and support groups. Offline has your own church or library. Connect and be a part of it. As a home student, you are, in a sense, a qualified teacher. Get a few good publications and subscribe, or log in to your favorite few newsletters. The message here is that you do not have to do everything yourself.

When it comes to resources there is one out there that is usually the Internet… and that is your local library. Your library is an amazing resource. Libraries are a great source of videos, audio cassettes, study aids for all subjects… (And so are books!). If you could only select one app and one resource ... select the library.

Take a break. For me, taking short breaks from regular breaks compared to regular long breaks always worked better for my family and children. Of course, the flexibility of the whole family is different, but if you have not tried this method you should. I think you and your children will love it. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either.

I’ve talked about family flexibility; and as you will be studying at home naturally you will be introducing a very different and time-consuming aspect to your family dynamics.

There will be times when there are not enough hours in the day. That is why it is so important to stay focused and organized as much as you can. Avoid those activities that rob you of your day. Remember, you study at home. Try to schedule all outdoor activities for a day or two instead of spreading it all week and have ‘small’ distractions every day. I would love to have longer days of outdoor activities, if it meant keeping my home schooling days uninterrupted. I have found that my children and family appreciate this approach.

Unless you are a surprisingly well-organized and efficient person who works like a fat burner, you will find that all of the above will not suit you overnight. You can feel down ... not to anyone I know! There is no perfect program at all and no two schedules and organizational skills. Work on making sand, stirring, and polishing what works for you and in time you will find your step.
