Money Heist: The series was initially intended as a limited series to be told in two parts. It had its original run of 15 episodes on Spanish network Antenna 3 from 2 May 2017 through 23 November 2017. Netflix acquired global streaming rights in late 2017. After taking 67 people hostage inside the Mint, the team plans to remain inside for 11 days to print the money as they deal with elite police forces. In the events following the initial heist, the group's members are forced out of hiding and prepare for a second heist, with some additional members, this time aiming to escape with gold from the Bank of Spain, as they again deal with hostages and police forces. After the hit of Volume-1 with Two Parts, it extended to Volume-2 of three parts. Volume 2 sees that mantle taken up by the irrepressible performance of Fernando as the ruthless 'Tamayo'.
Squid Game: It is a South Korean survival drama television series created by Hwang Dong for Netflix. A story about cash-strapped contestants competing in children’s games with only 2 outcomes - either $38M in cash or death in a flash. An insane plot initially conceptualized in 2008 but rejected several times, eventually turning into a worldwide phenomenon, is enough to stir up anybody’s curiosity. Ranked # 1 among Netflix’s most popular shows in 90 countries. As a group of 456 financially desperate people voluntarily risk their lives for the penultimate prize by participating in six twisted games. Superb acting all around, from the lead characters to the supporting cast, even the cameo roles. It did not matter whether they are seasoned actors or rookies, superstars or not so well-known. Their acting talents were all at par. Their competencies were the same level. In spite of it being a purely Korean presentation, there were ironically no communication and cultural barriers, which brought about its global appeal. It vividly showcased how human frailties and imperfections bear no nationality.
The Silent Sea: It is a 2021 South Korean Streaming series. On a near-future Earth suffering from extreme desertification, Draconian measures have been put in place for potable water rationing. Scientist joins a hand-picked team of elite personnel on a mission to the moon. They are headed to an abandoned research facility, where her sister died five years prior, after 117 personnel were killed in an incident. A must-watch for any science fiction fan. This series was well written and suggested a few interesting view points on the future of humanity, our planet and different other influences that our species may have to resort to (if we haven't already started trying). I absolutely loved the acting, suspense, drama and over-all flow of this series. It's awesome too because even if they do not have a second season and keep it as a miniseries, the ending was satisfying and offered a hopeful outlook for the viewers to come to their own conclusions on how things would eventually turn out. Additionally, I appreciate that Netflix is expanding the attention to Korean TV shows because they are dubbing rather than just subbing. It feels so good to finally be able to prove that I was right in saying all along to friends and loved ones that Korean shows really do offer something unique that American shows don't usually deliver on with a fresh take on storytelling and experience.
