Summer heat, sudden torrential rain. Although summer brings peace in our life, it is accompanied by various diseases. Almost everyone, young and old, is affected by such rains.
Sudden rains in hot weather have high humidity levels in the air. Because of this, infectious bacteria and viruses can easily spread disease. Therefore, to stay healthy at such a time, we need to adopt some extra awareness.

Diarrhea and dysentery

Like other diseases, various stomach ailments are more common during sudden rains, such as diarrhea and dysentery.  These are water borne diseases. People of all ages including children and the elderly can get this disease.


To get rid of diarrhea and dysentery, one should drink pure water, wash utensils, clothes with clean water, avoid street food. Saline and normal or liquid diet should be taken in case of diarrhoea. Diarrhea can be avoided by making sure to wash hands with soap or disinfectant in clean water before eating and drinking boiled water.

cholera

One of the causes of this dreaded waterborne disease is drinking contaminated water and living in an unsanitary damp environment. Cholera is caused by rotavirus infection. Before the discovery of medicine, almost everyone in the village or area affected by this disease died. Symptoms of cholera are severe diarrhea, vomiting and feeling very weak. In cholera, salt and water deficiency occurs in the patient's body and as a result the patient becomes very weak. In most cases, if not treated quickly, the patient may lose his life. So to stay away from cholera you have to drink pure boiled water.

Malaria

The disease is spread by female Anopheles mosquitoes. Malaria is more common in hilly areas.
Female Anopheles mosquitoes breed in waterlogged areas. Therefore, places like reservoirs, flower tubs, water reservoirs around the house should be kept clean. Symptoms of malaria include fever, muscle pain, weakness etc.

dengue

At this time, the prevalence of dengue is high. Aedes mosquito is the carrier of this disease. Symptoms of dengue include fever, body aches and pains in the joints, skin rash or small red spots. To prevent the spread of mosquitoes, the wet areas of the house should be kept clean regularly so that rainwater does not accumulate.

Fever, cold, cough

Fever, cold, cough are usually more due to rain water and damp environment around. Children and the elderly are more affected. If one member of the family gets this disease due to virus, others are also affected gradually. Fever may last for 3-5 days. If the fever level is very high and lasts for more than 5-6 days, a doctor must be consulted.

Various skin diseases

Due to damp and wet weather, fungal diseases like scabies, fungal infections and scabies occur. If the body is wet for a long time, if the rain-wet body is not wiped well, if wet clothes are not dried well, and due to damp room, skin diseases are more common.

To keep yourself safe from various skin diseases, you must always keep everything clean and dry Rain water should be removed from body and head well. Bathe at least twice daily with disinfectant soap and shampoo. Avoid dirty roads and flood water. If it is necessary to move, then after returning home, one must bathe with water mixed with Dettol or Savlon. Shoes or sandals should be washed thoroughly and dried before wearing.

Typhoid

Outbreaks of typhoid fever are also seen in sudden rains. A type of bacteria called Salmonella typhi contaminates water and food. People get typhoid fever by consuming this contaminated water and food. Excreta of typhoid carriers and infected patients are the main source of the disease. Typhoid is spread through contaminated food, water and flies. This disease can cause various complications including fever, cough, headache, constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal swelling, pleurisy. To avoid typhoid, you should wash your hands thoroughly with soap before eating. And avoid street food.

Virus fever

Although it lasts throughout the year, the incidence of viral fever increases with time. This fever usually occurs two to seven days after the virus attacks. Currently there is an outbreak of a type of viral fever called Chinkogunya. If this fever occurs, chills, headache, body and groin pain, loss of appetite, fatigue, weakness, watery nose and eyes, red eyes, itching all over the body.


Viral fever is usually not a serious disease. So there is no reason to worry if you have a viral fever. Antibiotics are not necessary for this fever. Take paracetamol. Adequate rest is also necessary. Viral fever lasts for 3-5 days. If the fever lasts more than 4-5 days, you must consult a doctor immediately. 
Worm infestation


Timing of worm outbreaks. At this time, the germs of this parasitic worm are mixed in water and soil. Therefore, this time is more easily infected with worms than any other time. So stop walking barefoot. Everyone should be dewormed.
Children and the elderly have low immunity. Children and the elderly need additional care if they suffer from any illness. Another thing to keep in mind is that if it doesn't get better soon after getting any disease, then you must consult a doctor, it is equally applicable to everyone, young and old.
