In terms of film, 2022 is a jam-packed year, with so many long-awaited releases still to come. There's a lot to look forward to next year, with all of the action blockbusters, superhero movies, and quirky indie fare.
1. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania
The first animated film of 2022 is Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. However, with each subsequent film in the franchise, they've strayed further from the basic monsters and vampires story. The gang went on a summer vacation in the third installment, and they aren't even monsters in the fourth. They've "transformed" into people and are roaming the forests. They are, nonetheless, the same amusing characters, voiced by some of today's most entertaining comic actors.
2. Turning Red
It's getting redder. Shi directed and co-wrote the picture, which is Pixar's first female-directed film. The film is set in Toronto in the early 2000s and tells the story of Meilin Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a 13-year-old Chinese Canadian girl who is startled to discover that her excitement and stress began to spark a... metamorphosis one day. That is, she transforms into a massive red panda. Ming Lee (voice of Sandra Oh), Meilin's mother, says that "poofing" is a family curse.
3. Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Unlike previous gaming characters turned movies, Sega's blue speedster took the smart route to success: lean into the insane, the bizarre, and the ridiculous. Our tennis shoe-wearing hero faced out against Jim Carrey's crazy, cartoonish foe Dr. Robotnik in the first installment. Sonic and several familiar human faces, as well as franchise favorites like Tails (voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and Knuckles the Echidna, will appear in the second film, aptly titled Sonic the Hedgehog 2. (voice of Idris Elba).
4. Lightyear
There's a lot of speculation about the Pixar film, whether it's about the actual imaginary character that the Toy Story toy is based on or if it's a relaunch of the cartoon Star Command.
Adults are just as excited as children about the film, if not more so, because millennials are the most infatuated with the character, which has resulted in some humorous Twitter replies regarding Lightyear. Furthermore, based on the teaser, it appears that Pixar will once again outdo itself, as the animation is outstanding and the spacecraft appear practically photorealistic.
5. The Bad Guys
Mr. Wolf, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, and Ms. Tarantula are among the legendary baddies who make a deal to do good in order to avoid incarceration. When life throws a curveball at you, things don't always go as planned, right? The voice talent is outstanding, with names like Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos, Awkwafina, Richard Ayoade, Zazie Beetz, Lilly Singh, and Alex Borstein providing their voices to the The Bad Guys.
6. Pinocchio
The Netflix original in 2022 is a stop-motion animation, and it's written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, which adds to the excitement. The filmmaker is well recognized for his imaginative creature creations, and his imagination knows no bounds when it comes to clay animation. Despite the fact that the original Pinocchio film is over 80 years old and has never been remade, there will be two Pinocchio films released in 2022. Disney is following the tradition of releasing live-action adaptations of its cartoon classics, and the 1940 film will be released in late 2022.
