Top Rankings of Sports video games of all time.
New sports video games are always more realistic, but realism is not always equal to the best titles in the series.
Not every gamer likes to play sports games, but for those who do, they are a great way to play the games of your choice. Sports games in general have come close to the beginning of video games, but they have certainly progressed over the years.
However, impeccable graphics and realistic character models are certainly not a guarantee of creating a perfect game, even if they can certainly help. There are many classic sports games that are in the hearts and minds of the players, although their respective franchises have since released more realistic products.
Jordan vs Birds -
Was one gameplay after another great? Not really. But the other side was in favor of three-point play and Slam Dunk against many of the sides. For this, it deserves a place in the top 10.
"ESPN NFL 2K5" | released in 2004
Madden NFL games have become the equivalent of EA's American football, like FIFA and the NHL, but there are other franchises in the game that deserve recognition. ESPN NFL 2K5 was released in 2004 as a final rate game with 2K, and it has cemented its own legacy.
Its graphics may not hold up very well to the modern technology of video games, but it was a legitimate threat to EA, who would soon sign an exclusive deal with the NFL. This controversy among NFL games proves that graphics are not everything, as every year's EA release is inevitably compared to the immortal ESPN NFL 2K5.
Rocket League's Chaos Makes It One Of The Best But Most Unrealistic Sports Games Of All Time.
Despite being released in late 2015, the Rocket League seems like it was forever. It was the easiest, on the premises, having car football, but since its release it has become a huge hit, adapting to it when needed.
As much as the game is fun, it does not represent the most realistic of the games. Vehicles that can resist gravity to fly, rotate and fly in the air and send the ball accurately are not yet fully realized in practice. The game's Rumble mode makes things even more awkward with items like Mario Kart and weapons for maximum chaos.
NBA 2K11 "| Published 2010
NBA 2K games have become exceptional in recent years with their realistic graphics, gameplay and modes. My Career story modes were generally great, especially when compared to The Journey in the FIFA franchise. However, for all the impressive features of the latest NBA 2K games, NBA 2K11 is still arguably the best.
Iconic Michael Jordan was on the cover of this game through some game modes for some nostalgia-filled fun. In addition to this major selling point, the game usually feels like the best NBA 2K release, and it still does.
"NBA Street Volume 2" | released 2003
What was it ?: With Julius Irving, Chicago-era Michael Jordan and a street ball player on the cover, "NBA Street Volume 2" has taken basketball video games into the next century.
Why we like it:
"NBA Street Vol. 2" takes the blueprint of "NBA Jam" and modernizes it. With three different versions of His Airless, available for play by legends such as contemporary NBA stars such as Allen Iverson and Dr. J., the game brings a unique twist to basketball simulation with flashy passing, high-flying dunks and wild blocks. You can play on a street at risk in Philadelphia too!
Madden NFL 06" | released 2005
Which one was it?: Hot off the Eagles' second ever Super Bowl berth, Donovan McNab graced the cover and the franchise introduced "Superstar" mode.
Why we love it:
There's some obvious bias in here given an Eagle being on the cover, but the Eagles offense in this game was unstoppable with McNab, the greatest Eagles running back of all time in Brian Westbrook and Terrell Owens coming off the best season of his career. Even Todd Pinks ton crushed in on those go routes! I still play this game to this day on PS2.
MVP Baseball 2005
Released in 2004, MVP Baseball 2005 is one of several games that were way ahead of their time and represented their respective sport perfectly. It says a lot that games like MVP Baseball 2005 and ESPN NFL 2K5 are still talked about today, almost twenty years since their release.
It is a testament to this game that one of the few only flaws that anyone ever talks about is the announcing glitches. EA brought their a-game, with effortless gameplay and new features to make a truly authentic experience. It is another example of a game whose graphics don't look too amazing compared to modern titles, but it doesn't change the impact it had on baseball video games.
