Afghanistan's reform commission has expelled 4,500 members of the security forces. The decision was taken to form an Islamic Emirate security force in the country, said Latifullah Hakimi, head of the commission. "After six months of reform efforts, our commission is on the verge of merging with a security commission made up of officials from the defense, interior and intelligence departments," he said. Hakimi said at least 135 of the expelled members were minors. "We have expelled those who had criminal cases against them in the past," he told a news conference on Monday. Now the Security Commission is working on the issue. Hakimi added that the Ministry of Defense has registered all military equipment, including heavy, light weapons and helicopters. At the same press conference, Shirr Mohammad Sharif, commander of the Afghan Border Force, said that tensions over the Durand Line (Afghanistan-Pakistan border) were not serious, but that the Islamic Emirate would not formally recognize the Durand Line. Mohammad Sharif said, "We have a commitment with our neighbors and the world. We will try to resolve these issues through diplomacy, and we will never want to get involved in conflicts with our neighbors." Source: Tulo News
