New features in Chrome OS 103 are so useful that they are already standard utilities.
When Chrome OS 103 was released a few weeks back, it wasn't just another security update with a few minor adjustments here and there. Instead, it provided a few significant new capabilities to the Chromebook community that aren't only amazing as show-off skills but, also quite helpful. In fact, I already regularly incorporate a handful of them into my workflow since I find them to be so valuable.
For me, Screencast, Recent Photos, and Fast Pair are the three major new features that have been integrated into the Chrome OS experience as a whole. Although Fast Pair won't be available in its entirety until a little while from now (perhaps with the next Chrome OS version), the foundation is already in place if you want to enable flags and use it. I'll tell you this: I'll be turning on those flags to take full advantage of Fast Pair if it isn't ready and available when the Pixel Buds Pro come later this month. The best benefit of this new function is keeping your accessories paired across devices, although having them pair quickly is a pleasant plus.

The two main functions that I use frequently now are Screencast and the Recent Photos portion of the Phone Hub. The use case for the Recent Photos feature is rather straightforward and obvious, providing consumers with immediate access to the most recent photos they've looked at on their mobile devices. The best feature of this is that it gives you access to photos from apps you use in addition to the camera roll, which contains just images captured using the phone's camera.
On several levels, this is intriguing. In the beginning, it enables you to have extremely quick access to a photo that you might have received in a messaging app and that you want to utilize right away in another app or service. For instance, Gabriel texted me a picture of some pork smoking on his Traeger while I was writing this essay on WhatsApp. I could send it to a group on Discord without having to go look for the image because I spotted it right away in my Recent Photos section of the Phone Hub.
The fact that this functionality also works with Google Photos makes it more practical for me to take a photo of my Pixel 6 Pro, quickly edit it there, and then view the updated version in my Recent Photos to share it in a chat, on social media, or in a new post. I'll soon wonder how I survived without it because it is just so very useful.
