Westminster Mall in Westminster, Colorado
Westminster Mall is one of the most haunted malls in America. It's been said that a 13-year-old boy was killed at this shopping center in 1979 when he was hit by an elevator. There have also been reports of people seeing a woman dressed in white with dark hair, who appears to be carrying a baby. Could it be that she's looking for her child?
To make matters even more frightening, many other ghosts haunt Westminster Mall as well. The story goes that back in 1987, five children were playing near an escalator while their mother was busy running errands. The escalator suddenly malfunctioned and began going backward. In seconds, all five kids had fallen down the escalator and were killed on impact. Many shoppers have reported hearing their screams coming from the basement level! There have also been sightings of three ghosts walking around wearing old school uniforms - could they be the spirits of long-lost children who died so tragically? Some believe they may still reside at Westminster Mall seeking revenge on those who failed to keep them safe while they lived on Earth.
Gadsden Mall in Gadsden, Alabama
Gadsden Mall is a two-story shopping mall located at 4318 Hwy. 21, Gadsden Alabama. It's right off of Interstate 59 on the way to Birmingham and features stores like Belk, J.C. Penny, Sears, Old Navy, and many more all under one roof. But what makes this mall so haunted?
Gadsden Mall opened its doors on March 18th, 1978 as a three-story mall with Sears as its anchor store at one end of the building and J. C. Penney at the other. The original layout included an L-shaped floor plan with escalators that circled the middle of the mall, including kiosks and various retailers scattered throughout. There was also a food court, which was just about unheard of for most malls back then but served as something for people who weren't feeling like walking up or down stairs to get food. Sadly, in 1993 when it was acquired by General Growth Properties who renamed it Gadsden Mall, there were significant changes made; most notably, its opening hours were changed from 10 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and 12 pm - 6 pm on Sunday to 8 am - 8 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am - 8 pm Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Seminary Square Shopping Center in Alexandria, Louisiana
It's a little-known fact that Louisiana has more reported ghost sightings than any other state. The most haunted mall in Louisiana is Seminary Square Shopping Center in Alexandria. Built on top of an old slave burial ground, it's rumored to be one of the most haunted malls in America. There have been reports of children laughing on the escalator when no one is around, shoppers being touched by unseen hands, and mysteriously locked doors opening while they shop. It may be a little creepy to visit after dark but it's worth checking out during the day too! Some stores are still open even though they closed years ago, with security guards not able to close their doors at night for some reason. It was built near the site of Plantation Cotton Gin, which was so badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 that it had to be demolished. Employees say strange things happen there all the time, from seeing ghosts and people dressed in 1800s clothes walking through (even though there aren't any dressing rooms) to hearing voices coming from inside the walls. There have also been reports of men who died over a hundred years ago roaming through there late at night—plus those unexplained footsteps echoing across empty floors...
