 Honesty is the best policy:

                                                  Once a poor woodcutter lived in a village. He daily cuts wood, sold it, and earned his living. One day was cutting wood in a jungle which was on the bank of the river. By chance, his axe slipped from his hand and fell into the river. He did not know how to swim.

He became very sad and began to cry. Suddenly, an angel appeared there. He asked the woodcutter the cause of his weeping. The woodcutter narrated his sad story. The kind angel was moved and decided to help him.

He divided into the river. After a while, he brought out an axe of gold. The woodcutter said that it was not his axe and refused to take the axe of gold. The angel divided again and brought an axe of silver.

The woodcutter did not accept to take this axe. The angel divided again, this time bringing his real wooden axe. The woodcutter was very happy to see his axe. He took that axe and thanked the angel for his help.

The angel was impressed by his honesty, so as a reward he gave him both the golden and the silver axe along with the golden axe as a reward for his honesty.

Benefits of “ Honesty is the best Policy " 

A major element for developing moral character is Honesty. Honesty helps in developing good attributes like kindness, discipline, probity, moral integrity, and further. Lying, cheating, lack of trust, stealing, rapacity, and other immoral attributes have no part in Honesty.

Honest people are sincere, secure, and pious, throughout their life. Honesty is precious and it's the habit of Utmost significance. There are notorious quotations, said by a great personality like “ Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom ”. It holds OK due to its capability to make, shape, and motivate integral values in one’s life. 

First of all, Honesty promotes authenticity. Honesty reflects one’s own passions and studies. Honesty clearly helps people in knowing who you really are. Hence, one must be honest in tone and expression. 

Honesty removes fear from the heart. It makes a person valorous and confident. It clearly takes a huge quantum of courage to speak the verity. Speaking verity is a sign of frippery. The bone who lies is a sissy. Speaking falsehood is a sign of low tone- confidence. 

Another notable benefit of honesty is maturity. Honesty clearly reflects the maturity of a person. An existent is presumably mature if he regularly speaks the verity. Likewise, a mature person speaks the verity in the anon-hurtful way. 

Honesty strengthens and improves connections between people. It clearly helps in bringing people together. Outmost noteworthy, it fosters a connection between individualities 

Another atrocious advantage of Honesty is peace of mind. Honesty clearly makes an individual sense free. An honest individual enjoys a light-headed feeling. This is because he doesn't feel the stress and pressure of lying. Likewise, an honest person doesn't have to deal with keeping secrets. All of this feels veritably comforting. 

Honesty enhances the character of a person. An honest existent enjoys enormous respect and status in society. Everyone seems to be fond of such a person. Likewise, a veracious person can fluently induce trust with other people.
