The film tells the story of Stanley Zuckerman, a scout for the NBA Philadelphia 76ers. He is constantly on the road, looking for new talent for the club and the Draft. During one of his trips, he finds the Rough Diamond in the form of a young guy named Bo Cruz, who works in construction in a small town in Spain, but has the talents of a Basketball superstar. Unfortunately, the young team leader refuses Stanley's request to sign the player for the draft, then our hero decides to prepare the player for the Draft pick at his own expense.
There are many films of this kind, and the general plot cannot be definitely called the main advantage of the tape, but it is very strong and perfectly keeps the viewer in the right mood. Sandler did an excellent job as a mentor for a young athlete, I can’t say that I liked the performance here more than in 'Rough Diamond', but he plays very well and there are no replays. According to Bo, it’s a little more difficult, yet this is not an actor, but an athlete, he played well, but for the most part in this duet, but here there are still 2 main characters Adam draws all the attention to himself. As for the other actors, it was nice to see Robert Duvall, albeit for a very short time. Also here you can see a lot of NBA legends and players, some in the role of themselves, and some in full-fledged roles of their own.
According to the basketball show itself, everything is fine. There are almost no full-fledged matches here, yet here the plot is more about the preparation of talent. But the workouts were filmed perfectly, there are a lot of interesting shooting angles. Coupled with dynamic editing for cool tracks, they set an excellent motivation to go in for sports yourself. And in those rare moments when they show the match, everything looks good too. From the montage, I was very pleased with the initial one, showing how routine Stanley's work is, and that funny banter, traveling almost all over the world, he eats food only from American fast foods.
Summing up, the film can be described in one phrase: 'Rocky, but about basketball'. The film has a very clear and simple plot, and pleasant characters, there is practically no division into neutrals, and everyone is presented as bad and good. But all this is justified, the viewer immediately falls under the atmosphere of the tape and experiences all the ups and downs of the main characters through emotions. Great motivational and good movie.
