Escalations of Global Trade Tensions 

On April 5 , 2025 , the United States initiated a new 10% baseline tariff on imports from multiple countries , marking a substantial departure from established global trade norms this move is set to be followed by higher  " reciprocal " tariffs ranging from 11% to 50% targeting nations such as China, the European union, and Vietnam . The announcement has led to considerable turmoil in global markets erasing $5 trillion in U.S. stock value and causing a decline in commodity prices .

In relation , China imposed a 34%  tariff on U.S. goods and introduce measures like restricting rare earth exports . Chinese official emphasized the adverse effects on U.S. inflation and economic stability , urging for  equitable consultations to resolve the escalating trade disputes .

 

Shifts in Global Humanitarian Aid 

U.S. secretary of state Marco Rubio announced a policy shift , stating that the United States will no longer bear the primary responsibility for global Humanitarian aid . This decision comes in the wake of a devastating

7.7-  magnitude earthquake in Myanmar , which resulted in over 3,000 fatalities . Rubio called on other wealthy nations , including China and India , to increase their contribution to global humanitarian efforts.
