As war and dire economic conditions begin to affect people around the world, more and more people are suffering from depression. The more we focus on news events and the business environment, the more depressed we become. Whatever the cause of your depression, the following five simple tips can significantly reduce it.
1. Do not read newspapers.
Newspapers often publish negative news. Even in times of peace, newspapers find the worst in humanity and display negative stories to boost sales and subscribers. Newspapers abound in stories centered around war, rebellion, death, destruction, destruction and despair.
Stop reading newspapers and reduce negative input to your brain.
2. Turn off your television.
Seeing and hearing about the terrible economy and losses caused by war can add to the depression. You are guaranteed to feel helpless. Helplessness allows depression to develop. If you really want to see or hear news like this, promise to bury yourself in the next 5 or 10 years of continuing documentaries. One way to rid your brain of negative input is by putting it aside for a date somewhere in the future. I guarantee in the future, you won't find it very interesting.
When visitors come to your home, turn off your television and keep it off. News TV broadcasters are fighting for your guests' attention as they promote despair, war, death, and destruction with multiple headline interruptions. Those little banners that run along the bottom of the screen grab your attention and grab your attention. Television can reduce your positive feelings.
3. Say good things about others
My mother always said, "If you can't say anything nice about other people, don't say anything at all." However, if you find yourself in a conversation where a relative asks, "Remember Uncle Bill?" "He's an alcoholic"; "Yes, Uncle Bill was an alcoholic and he was the most charitable man I ever met."
Pair your relatives' negative statements about Phil with a positive one. Set yourself up to find the positive in anyone's statement, and prevent negative thoughts and depression from overtaking your life.
4. Exercise
Depression makes adults forget to exercise. Make sure you exercise daily and send more oxygen to your brain cells. Exercise will improve your health and your attitude.
5. Breathe deeply and relax.
Breathe deeply and relax. Take a short mental vacation of 3 minutes every hour.
Try the following breathing exercises to relax your body and mind. You can engage in this exercise while standing in the checkout line at the supermarket or listening to other people talking on the phone. You can complete the exercise at home or work.
Take three deep breaths and relax. As you inhale, focus on calm and peaceful thoughts. You can think of relaxing on a mountain, the sea, or in your favorite room at home.
As you breathe out, focus on releasing any tension from your lungs. Focus on positive images in your life. Focus on laughter, love, excitement, and hope.
Inhale in this pattern until you feel better. If you exercise regularly, you will see amazing changes in your vision and other aspects of your life.
May you feel better now!
