International Cat Day 2023: On August 8, people around the world celebrate cats, one of man's most popular and long-standing friends. Some cultures have even regarded them as deities (Egypt comes to mind). Cats are among the greatest animals on the earth because they are independent, curious, and adventurous, have an amazing physique, and can, for the most part, heal themselves. International Cat Day will be observed on August 8, 2021, to appreciate our intriguing, fluffy felines.

Cats are typically tiny, hairy, four-legged, tail-wielding, carnivorous mammals. Despite being descended from the African wildcat and being used to catch rodents, they have been domesticated by humans as pets since the beginning of time.
Humans initially made reference to cats in the ancient Egyptian civilization. Because they revered and treated cats like gods, the Egyptians seem to have left a lasting impression on all of us. Cats were not only deities but also protectors during the First Dynasty, when Mafdet, the first recorded cat deity, was worshiped as a guardian against serpents, scorpions, and evil.

- About 100 different sounds are made by cats. Dogs only produce about 10.

- In Asia, almost four million cats are consumed annually.
- Thousands of cats were burned during the Spanish Inquisition because Pope Innocent VIII declared cats to be demonic. Sadly, the widespread killing of cats resulted in a massive increase in the rat population, which aggravated the Black Death's impact.
- Compared to dogs, cats have better hearing. Additionally, compared to a human, a cat can hear high-frequency sounds up to two octaves higher.
- Mohammed apparently loved cats, and Muezza, his personal tabby, was one of his favorites. According to a legend, Mohammed would frequently put his palm on the top of tabby cats, leaving an "M" for him there.

- Kopi Luwak, the rarest coffee in the world, is grown in Indonesia, the home of the luwak, a type of wildcat. The coffee beans inside the coffee berries pass through the stomach as the cat eats them. The beans are taken out of the cat poo piles, cleaned, and then baked. A 450 g (1 lb) bag of kopi luwak costs about $500.

- A Singapura, the tiniest pedigreed cat, can weigh as little as 4 lbs (1.8 kg), or around five large cans of cat food. Maine Coon cats are the biggest pedigreed cats; they can weigh up to 25 lbs (11.3 kg), or almost twice as much as the typical cat.
