Delhi News Live: Delhi recorded 2,779 new Covid-19 infections, as well as 38 deaths. Positivity rate of national capital was at 6.20 per cent and 5,502 patients were discharged in last 24 hours. State also conducted 44,847 Covid-19 tests.
As many as 4,576 children received their second shot of the vaccine till Monday 6 pm in Delhi – accounting for 21.7% of those who became eligible when the Covid-19 vaccination drive opened up for the second dose in children between the ages of 15 and 17 years.
There were 21,029 children who had received their first shot on January 3, when the vaccination drive was opened for the age group, and became eligible for their second shot this Monday after completing the 28-gap period between two shots of Covaxin.
Hundreds of anganwadi workers and helpers on Monday gathered near Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to demand a hike in their salary. Their primary demands include that the honorarium of workers be increased from Rs 10,000 to 25,000, and of helpers from Rs 5,000 to 20,000 to account for increased workload and inflation. Their pay had last been increased in 2017.
From Monday, children in the age bracket of 15 to 18 years will start receiving their second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. Delhi has around 10.14 lakh beneficiaries in the age group
Defence Secy holds talks with senior military official of Oman
Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar on Monday held extensive talks with Oman's Secretary General of Defence Mohammed bin Nasser bin Ali Al-Zabbi on expanding bilateral defence and strategic ties.
The talks were held under the framework of the Joint Military Coordination Committee (JMCC). Al-Zabbi is currently on a visit to India.
"Had very warm and friendly disc today during 10th JMCC meeting with HE Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General Defence of Oman and Omani delegation and worked out plan for deeper defence cooperation," Kumar tweeted. (PTI)

Role of women continuously expanding, women commissions need to widen their scope of work: PM
Noting that the role of women in the society is continuously expanding, Prime Minister Narendra on Monday said the women commissions will have to increase their scope of work and give a new direction to the women of their states.
Speaking on the occasion of the 30th foundation day of the National Commission for Women (NCW), the prime minister said the participation of women in the growth cycle of a "new India" is increasing continuously and the commissions should also promote the role of women in entrepreneurship as much as possible.
"Today, the role of women is continuously expanding, so all women's commissions will also have to increase their scope of work and give a new direction to the women of their states," he said. (PTI)

All India Congress Committee General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra began campaigning in Noida today for the party's candidate Pankhuri Pathak.
Speaking in sector 26, she said: "Elections need to be fought on real issues - development, water, how many people are unemployed...
We are telling the youth that we will give employment. I have been working in UP for the past two years. People have been waiting 5 to 6 years for jobs. Nobody is listening to them. A special recruitment commission needs to be made, along with a timetable - a job calendar which will specify dates of exams, results and when positions will be filled."
