The Duke Cybersecurity Leadership Program provides leaders with the tools they need to address the next generation of threats. Board members and other executives will learn how to better execute oversight responsibilities, effectively manage risk, and prepare their organizations for the latest cybersecurity challenges. This unique program combines the expertise of Duke’s public policy school, computer science department, engineering school, and law school. The program faculty includes not only subject matter experts from Duke, but also leaders who have managed and responded to cybersecurity risks at the highest level of industry and government. Participants will join one of two tracks that best suits their professional background. The first session from June 13-15 is designed for U.S.-based executives, with a focus on the specific responsibilities of boards of directors and leaders who regularly interact with boards. The second session, which runs from June 15-17 in cooperation with the United States Telecommunication Training Institute (USTTI), will focus on cybersecurity risk management for foreign government officialsOver the course of three days, participants will engage with a world-class faculty from academia, government and industry on topics at the intersection of technology, law, and policy. By the end of the program, participants will be able to do the following: Identify and address cyber-related risks to organizations, Develop best practices relating to supply chain and other third-party risks, and Better equip their organizations for engaging with government regulators and law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. No policy, legal or technical experience is required.Program Sessions will include: The cyber threat landscape and emerging threats An overview of main threat vectors and trends Major data breach case studies and trends Best practices in incident response Financial impacts of cybersecurity incidents Legal impacts of cybersecurity incidents Privacy impacts of incidents Risk management and its integration into legislation and standards What is “reasonable security” How should the government and the private sector interact How to protect against ransomware Duke University has a long track record of excellence in education. Travel to Duke University and local accommodations are not covered by program tuition and are the responsibility program participants.
