Another common eBay scam you will want to look at involves those who want your personal information. This type of scam is perpetrated in two different ways. First, a few merchants tell you they need your credit card information, but you should not. Whether you pay by PayPal, personal check, or money order, you must not provide any personal information to any eBay merchants, even if you are buying something from them. If you do not use PayPal, just send a check or money order to the address you have been given, nothing more needs to be done.
The second eBay scam involving your personal information is the theft of sensitive information. Scam crime scams are on the rise, making it easy for one victim to commit suicide. With the theft of sensitive information, the scam sends an email that looks like it came from eBay. Email is often accompanied by a message saying something is wrong with your account, and you need to click on the attached link, log in and fix it. This is a scam. What they are trying to do to get details of your eBay account. Once that is done, they may be able to access stored personal account numbers and use your eBay account to make fraudulent purchases.
