Cheapest vitamins and supplements
If you've decided to start buying vitamins and supplements, you'll notice one distinctive feature about them. They are extremely expensive! If you go to a health food store and buy just three or four bottles of supplements, the total can easily exceed a hundred dollars. Assuming each bottle only has a month's supply, if you're on a serious supplement regimen, it could cost you up to several hundred dollars a month if you buy premium vitamin brands. So here are some tips on how to get your vitamins at the cheapest price and still enjoy the benefits associated with the most expensive brands.
Tip #1: Don't pay more for a luxury label. Many vitamins and supplements come in very fancy looking packaging. However, once you start reading the luxury label, if you can't see any difference between its ingredients and the cheaper brands, it's probably because there isn't any difference. Many times you are paying more for the name on the bottle because you are paying for the advertising that the company is putting out. In fact, vitamins from companies with a huge price difference from other brands actually come from the same factory.
Tip #2: Generic brands are just as good as brand name and cost about half. Read the label again. If the generic has the same ingredients as its competitors; it's the same thing. In fact, many companies release a generic brand along with their brand to appeal to price-conscious customers along with their more discerning customers. On some generic labels, you may even see "distributed" in fine print on the back of the bottle. Always buy generic when you can to save money.
Tip #3: Most supplement stores have a preferred membership discount card. If you shop on certain days of the week or for certain products, you can really save a lot of money. These stores also have frequent members-only sales on all kinds of brand-name vitamins and supplements. Most cities have one of these types of stores in a mall, so it's also convenient to get to them.
Tip #4: If you have a favorite brand, check out its website online. They almost always have coupons that you can print and use locally. Might be a good idea to get on their email list. This way you can be notified when they offer discounts.
Tip #5: Search the Internet for "cheap vitamins." You will be able to find all discount vitamin warehouses that deliver vitamins at cheap prices right to your door. This is the best way to save money on vitamins and supplements because some of these online vitamin stores sell name brand vitamins for more than half the regular price. Shipping charges are also usually nominal.
Tip #6: Buy vitamins in bulk when you can. For example, if you're buying vitamin C and your whole family takes it, you'll save money by buying larger bottles. The same goes for multivitamins. You can also go with a friend who buys the same supplements and split the larger bottle in half.
Tip #7: Buy synthetic vitamins and supplements when you can. It is always better to buy vitamins that come from natural sources. The whole point of buying vitamins is to get the nutrients from a natural food source, as opposed to using a synthetic drug. However, the difference between the amount of synthetic and naturally produced vitamins has not yet been established. In many studies, the difference between synthetic and real vitamins is negligible at best.
Saving money on vitamins and supplements isn't hard if you're careful and always look out for deals. While vitamins and supplements can be expensive, there's no reason to pay more than necessary to stay healthy.
