There is reason to believe that some of these claims are true, based on what we know about the properties of rice water. However, solid evidence is still lacking.
Eye problems
Some people find that drinking rice water or eating certain types of rice can help cure eye diseases such as macular degeneration. Macular degeneration usually affects older people and can lead to blindness. However, so far this claim has not been proven protect from sun damage.
Chemicals in rice have been shown to help protect the skin from the sun's rays. A 2016 study showed that it was an effective sunscreen when combined with other botanical extracts.
