MOUNTAIN WORK

The Qur'an draws attention to the very important work of the landscape of the mountains.

We have set firm mountains on the earth, that they may not be shaken beneath… (Qur'an, 21:31).

As we have seen, it is stated in the verse that the mountains have a role to play in preventing earthquakes on Earth.

This fact was unknown to anyone at the time of the revelation of the Qur'an. It was actually revealed recently because of the effects of modern geology.

According to these findings, the mountains are formed by the movement and collision of large plates forming the Earth's crust. When two plates collide, the strong one slips beneath the other, and the upper one bends over and builds up the mountains. The bottom layer extends beyond the ground and causes deep expansion to the ground. That means that the mountains have a flat part, as large as their visible parts on Earth.

In the scientific text, mountain formation is described as follows:

Where continents are dense, such as in the mountains, the crust sinks between layers of clothing.4

In the verse, this mountain range is illustrated by comparing "pegs":

Did we not make the earth like a couch and the mountains like pillars? (Qur'an, 78: 6-7)

The mountains, in other words, connect the plates of the Earth's crust together by extending above and below the surface of the Earth at the junction of these plates. In this way, they fix the crust, and prevent it from overflowing on the magma stratum or between its plates. In short, we can compare the mountains to the nails that keep the pieces of wood together.

This work of mountaineering is described in scientific literature as "ISO STA SY". This Word means the following:

ISO STA SY: a common parallel in the Earth's crust, maintained by the positive flow of rock material underground under the force of gravity.5

This important role of mountains, discovered by modern geology and earthquake research, was revealed in the Quran centuries ago as an example of the supreme wisdom of God’s creation.

We have set firm mountains on the earth, that they may not be shaken ... (Qur'an, 21:31).

MOUNTAIN TRAVEL

In another verse, we are told that the mountains do not move as they appear, but keep moving.

You will see mountains that you thought were strong passing through like clouds. (Qur'an, 27:88)

This movement of mountains is caused by the movement of the Earth's crust. The Earth's crust 'floats' over a layer of fabric, thick. It was at the beginning of the 20th century that, for the first time in history, a German scientist named Alfred Wegener proposed that the continents of the earth be assembled together when they first formed, but then drifted in different directions, and so they parted as they departed from each other.

Geologists realized that Wegener was right in the 1980s, 50 years after his death. As Wegener pointed out in an article published in 1915, the masses of the earth were collected about 500 million years ago. As Wegener pointed out in a 1915 article, world crowds gathered about 500 million years ago, and this large crowd, called Pangaea, was in the South Pole.

About 180 million years ago, Pangaea was divided into two parts, which ran in opposite directions. One of these major continents was GO ND WANNA, which included Africa, Australia, Antarctica, and India. The second was Laurasia, which included Europe, North America, and Asia, except India. Some 150 million years after the division, GO ND WANNA and Laurasia were divided into smaller parts.

These continents, which emerged after the division of Pangaea, have been moving around the Earth for several inches a year, currently changing the dimensions of the oceans and the Earth.

Discovered as a result of geological research conducted in the early 20th century, this movement of the Earth's crust is described by scientists as follows:

The coating and the upper part of the garment, which is 100 km thick, are divided into sections called plates. There are six large plates, and several small ones. According to the theory called plate tectonics, these plates move across the Earth, carrying continents and the ocean floor as well. Continental movement is measured from 1-5 cm per year. As the plates keep moving, this will produce slower changes in the Earth's atmosphere. Each year, for example, the Atlantic Ocean becomes slightly wider.6

There is a very important point to be made here: God refers to the movement of mountains as a moving action in a verse. Today, modern scientists use the term "Continental Drift" in this movement. 7

Undoubtedly, it is one of the wonders of the Qur'an that this scientific truth, recently discovered by science Feature Articles, has been proclaimed in the Qur'an.
