বড়লোক বাপের উচ্ছন্নে যাওয়া মেয়ে নিরুপমা। প্রচন্ড জেদি, বদমেজাজি সাথে আগুন ঝরা সুন্দরী। বিবি এ তৃতীয় বর্ষের ছাত্রী। এটাও বলা যায় যে সেই তার ভার্সিটি সেরা সুন্দরীর খেতাব পেয়েছে।কিন্তু দিন, দিন সে উচ্ছন্নে চলে যাচ্ছে দেখে তার বাবা মায়ের চিন্তার শেষ নেই।সারাদিন হই হুল্লোর আর আড্ডা মেরে পার করে।আর কথায়, কথায় বাজি করে সবার সাথে আর বাজিটা জিতবেই জিতবে। তার মা বাবা অনেক চেষ্টা করেও তাকে বসে আনতে পারে নি।কারন তাদের একটাই মাত্র সন্তান।তাই আদর পেয়ে, পেয়ে অনেক টা বেয়ারা হয়ে গেছে। আর এখন সেটা এতই বেশি যে তাদের পক্ষে তাকে কন্ট্রোল করা অসম্ভব হয়ে গেছে। তাই তার মা বাবা ঠিক করলো মেয়ের বিয়ে দিয়ে দিবে।কিন্তু এই মেয়ের সম্পর্কে জানার পর কেউই তাকে বাড়ির বউ বানাতে চাইবে না।
সে এক গভীর চিন্তায় পড়লো তারা। শেষে নিরুপমার মা সাহেদা বেগম এর মনে হল তার গ্রামের বান্ধবীর কথা। ওরা গ্রামেই থাকে, তার তো একটা ছেলে আছে।আর তাকে এই অবস্থায় একমাত্র তার এই বান্ধবীই উদ্ধার করতে পারে। সাহেদা বেগম তার বান্ধবীর সাথে কথা বলে জানতে পারলো তার ছেলের লেখাপড়া প্রায় শেষ। তাইবিয়ে দিতে আপত্তি নেই তার।আর তার ছেলেও সে কথা দিলে সেটা ফেলবে না। আর ওনার নিরুপমা কে বেশ পছন্দ। তাই তিনি সাহেদা বেগম কে পাকা কথা দিলেন।
সাহেদা বেগম গ্রামে গিয়ে তার বান্ধবীকে সব বুঝাই বললো সাথে তার বান্ধবীর ছেলে কেও দেখে আসলো। ছেলে মাশাল্লাহ সুন্দর। সবদিক থেকেই পারফেক্ট কিন্তু সমস্যা ছেলে গ্রামেই লেখাপড়া করেছে তাই নিরুপমার সাথে মানিয়ে নিতে পারবে না হয়তো। ছেলে কে সব বলে নিরুপমার নাম্বার দিয়ে চলে আসে। তারা বাড়িতে ফিরে নিরুপমা কে বিয়ের কথা বলে ভার্সিটি যাওয়া অফ করতে বলে কিছুদিন। নিরুপমা তো রেগে আগুন।
এভাবে কয়েকদিন থাকার পর নিরুপমার দম প্রায় বন্ধ হয়ে আসছিল তাই সে আর পারছিল না। তাই সে তার আম্মুর কাছে জানতে চাইলো ছেলের সম্পর্কে। সব জেনে নিরুপমার চক্ষু চড়কগাছ।সে আব্বু আম্মুর মুখ চেয়ে বিয়ে করতে পারে কিন্তু একটা গাইয়া খ্যাত ছেলে কে কখনোই তার স্বামী হিসেবে মেনে নিতে পারবে না।যে করেই হোক বিয়েটা ভাঙতে হবেই। তাই নিরুপমা ছেলেটির নাম্বার তার আম্মুর থেকে চেয়ে নিল যে সে ছেলেটির সাথে কথা বলে পরিচিত হতে চায়, বিয়ের আগে ফ্রি হতে চায় জড়তা কাটিয়ে। সাহেদা বেগম ছেলেটির নাম্বার দিয়ে দিল।
নিরুপমা রাত ১০টার দিকে ছেলেটির নাম্বার এ ফোন দিল।
নিরুপমা: হ্যালো
ছেলেটি: কে কইতেছেন?
নিরুপমা: আমি...যার সাথে আপনার বিয়ের কথা ঠিক হয়েছে।
ছেলেটি:ওহ এইটা তুমার নাম্ভার? আচ্ছা শুনো তোমারে আমার মেলা পছন্দ ওইছে।মুই তুমারেই বিয়া করিম। নিরুপমা:আপনি শুদ্ধ ভাষায় কথা বলতে পারেন না?
ছেলেটি: তুমি তো মোর বউ হবা, তুমার লগে শুদ্ধ ভাষায় কতা কয়ন যায় নাকি? এইটাই ঠিক আছে।
নিরুপমা: ডিসগাস্টিং.....এই শুনেন আমি আপনার মত একটা গেয়ো ভুত, গাইয়া, খ্যাত কে বিয়ে করবো না। আপনি সবাইকে না করে দেন।
ছেলেটি: কিন্তু আমি তো তুমাক ই বিয়া করিম। মুই তো সবাক বন্দু গুলাক কইয়া দিছি।
নিরুপমা: আপনাকে বিয়ে করবো না আমি মরে গেলেও করবো না।
ছেলেটি:তুমি মোক বিয়া করার জন্য পাগল হইয়া যাইয়া মনে রাখো। মোরে বিয়া করার লাইগা মরতেও চাইবা।
নিরুপমা: আপনি শুধু গাইয়া ভুত না আপনার মাথাতেও সমস্যা আছে...আমি একটা, একটা বেকার অকমর্ণ ছেলে কে বিয়ে করতে পারবো কিন্তু আপনাকে নেভার এভার....
ছেলেটি:কিন্তু মুই তো তুমাক বিয়া করিম এইডা ফাইনাল।
নিরুপমা: অসম্ভব। আমি কখনোই আপনাকে বিয়ে করবো না।
ছেলেটি:আর যদি বিয়া করবার পারি?
নিরুপমা:যদি না পারেন?
ছেলেটি:বাজি করবেন?
নিরুপমা: করলাম, বলেন কি বাজি...
ছেলেটি:মুই তুমারে বিয়া করবার পারলে তুমি রোজ রাতে ঘুমানোর আগে আর সকালে ঘুম ভাঙার পর তুমার ভেজা চুল দিয়ে আমার পা মুছাই দিতে হবে...
নিরুপমা: ইয়াক.....আর আপনি যদি হারেন তাহলে?
ছেলেটি: তুমি যেই ছেলের লগে বিয়া করবা তার লগে বিদ্যাসে হানিমুন করতে সব টাকা মুই দিমু....
নিরুপমা: নিরুপমা খুশি হয়ে.... অকে ফাইনাল....
তারপর নিরুপমা খাওয়া দাওয়া বন্ধ করে দিল বাসায়। সে ওই গাইয়া খ্যাত কে বিয়ে করতে পারবে না। কিন্তু তার মা তার সিন্ধান্তে অটল বিয়ে তার বান্ধবীর ছেলেকেই করতে হবে। এক সপ্তাহ এভাবে চলার পর একদিন অসুস্থ হয়ে সেন্সলেস হয়ে যায় নিরুপমা তখন নিরুপমার বাবা বিয়ে ভেঙে দেয়তার মেয়ের কথা ভেবে। নিরুপমা তো মহাখুশি সেই গাইয়ার হাত থেকে বাঁচতে পেরে… কিছুদিন বাসায় রেষ্ট নিয়ে আবার আগের মতই হয়ে গেল নিরুপমা...
