Yes, I know we all detest structure. If the world was a perfect place we'd not need it. It may be one of the most important effects to help us survive in the this-ADD world. We also need the correct quantum of structure in our lives. Too important makes us recusant or feel trapped. When we don’t have enough structure we lose track of the world around us.
A schedule works well for both children and grown-ups with ADD. Make a plan for each day. Make sure you give yourself or your child “ free time” or “ tone time” in that schedule. Children need at least an hour a day of continued play. I suppose grown-ups need about the same quantum of time to daydream, meditate, or just do nothing.
1. Positive Underpinning
This is one thing that everybody needs further of not just ADD people. Children and grown-ups respond better to positive underpinning than they do to discipline. Try to take the words DO N’T, CA N’T, and NEED out of your vocabulary. If your child is running through the house tell him or her to walk rather than “ not” to run.
Try to find the positive effects that your child does. Make sure each day that the positive effects you say outweigh the negative. Grown-ups can do the same thing for themselves. Rather than looking at all the effects, you haven’t done make a list of ALL the effects you have done. This may be hard at first but it'll start to come to a lot easier.
2. Break Effects Down
