Still, things are getting harder by the second; it can be nearly impossible just getting out of bed in the morning. Why it is so much easier to get in the negativity than it is to get out of it.
Depression does not just weigh down off your shoulder. It lies often telling us that we are not in control of our life, but we are. Whatever you are going through, No, it will not always be like this.
Here are eight tips for dealing with suicidal thoughts
1. Dont spend the nights alone: When you are suicidal, you will be tempted to isolate yourself. You lock yourselves in the room, shut the blinds,s and hide underneath the covers. The thing about depression is that the darkness may welcome you, but this only makes you suspectable to believe your negative thoughts. Watch out for your safety, and don’t spend the night alone. Call up your family, friends. Your lover. Tell them how you are feeling. If possible, sleeping over at their place is even better. Happy company around you can do wonders for you because it means keeping those evil thoughts in the bin and allowing the new environment to boost your mood.
2. Cut off all ties with negative people: Research shows that keeping toxic people in your life isn’t just stressful. It can kill you. One study shows that subjects in an antagonistic relationship have a higher risk of developing cardiac problems. If someone is abusing you physically, mentally, or emotionally, please call the police for help. Your life might drastically change if your family members or partner are toxic and realize that they are putting you in more pain than supporting you.
3. Make a list of your accomplishments: Hey You! Look at how far you have come. Failure can seem like a big slap on your face, but we often obsess with perfection instead of focusing on what we have received. There’s a difference; striving for perfection doesn’t allow you to be human. Embrace your flaws. Failure and downfalls as much as you appreciate all the milestones you’ve reached. Listen closely to what is working, turn those into lessons and grow resilient.
4. Practise positive approaches: Sometimes, it feels like ending your life is the only misery, but nothing lasts forever. Practice saying some of these “I will get through this,” “This is my depression talking, not me,” “I don’t want to die, I just want the pain to end.” Stick this to your mirror, fridge, or wherever you mostly go and can see it. Let them these friendly reminders to be kind to yourselves. You got this.
5. Find the therapist: Most people short this idea off because they might not be able to afford this, but their options, especially if you are a student. An open mind can ultimately get you help. Call your insurance company for any insights they might help; it never hurts to ask your family doctors too. Now work exists for a reason, and the more professional advice you receive, the faster you can find the solution.
6. If it is urgent, please call the police: This won't necessarily stop your suicidal thoughts, but they will prevent you from going through the act. From here now, they can take you to the ER, or you will be safe. We hope you never have to resort to this. Keep remembering that help is only one call away.
7. Finds out what is hurting you and changes it: Do you feel stuck or feel dead in your job, tired of the city you are living in, or not sure what you are studying in school. It is Okay to address that you are feeling unhappy but don’t consider yourself helpless. It may take time to find what works for you, but this is why practicing patience is so important. Big projects seem intimidating but break them up into more minor tasks to make them more approachable. Remember, as you wait for the miracle, never stop working on yourself in the meantime.
8. Whatever you do, please don’t lose hope: I know it’s easier said than done but committing suicide will end everything, including the fantastic days ahead that you want to be alive for. People usually realize too late or in the middle of the act that every problem they ever face could have been fixed, so please reconsider yourself. You deserve so much more. What you have to do is keep going and inspire yourself. Just remember you are not alone, and the whole universe wants you to be alive and happy.
