1. Choose your blog topic carefully
The most successful blogs often revolve around a particular theme or topic. The tricky starting point for a blog is that “I write everything possible about life.” If possible, take the idea a little further.
Think about what issue or topic you are passionate about. Do you have a dear hobby?
Are you particularly interested in clothing, decor, crafts, dogs, sports, cooking, or gardening? Limiting the topic of a blog to something specific is often a good idea.
Of course, you can also write a more general lifestyle blog that doesn’t have a well-defined topic. However, keep in mind that this will make it harder for you to stand out from the crowd.
If you want to write about your life in general, bring something to your blog in your own person that other similar blogs don’t offer.
Also, think about who you are writing to. For other enthusiasts in the same field? For people of the same age, in the same life situation? Keep your reader in mind constantly as you write.
Make sure the text gives something to others, not just you. It can help you make texts more interesting.
Ask yourself what kind of blogs you would like to read yourself. Strive to make content that you yourself would like to see and be able to follow.
2. Think of the reader
A good blog post is usually always either useful or entertaining - and preferably both.
Tell us about things that you think will either help your reader or be so interesting that the reader will feel comfortable and be able to read your text.
Entertaining doesn’t mean you should be impossibly funny and write with a light grip. It means you write about interesting things.
Your text can also address difficult issues, or you can address the grievances and problems you notice in them.
Always try to evoke thoughts or feelings in the reader. Be informative: write about current topics, follow news and phenomena, take a stand, find the answer to a question that concerns you (and thus others).
Or be emotional: describe, tell about a touching event, try to make the reader laugh or cry.
When writing, please focus on one topic per post. This also makes heading easier, and the reader stays in the cart when you don’t bounce from one thing to another.
3. Headline in an interesting and informative way
Think about what kind of headlines you click yourself when you browse the cute or look at newspaper websites.
The title of your post should say something about the subject of your text.
The title should not be so vague that the reader does not know what the text says. You can still use your imagination and humor!
An ambitious blogger also knows something about search engine optimization. Search engine optimization means improving the visibility of a website, such as a blog, in search engines' search results (i.e., Google). People find blogs most often through Google.
The goal of search engine optimization is to make your blog appear on Google when someone searches for information on a topic you’ve written about.
4. Add pictures
Text posting with plain text is mostly boring. Always try to illustrate the text with at least one image you take (or an image you have access to).
It is good if there is more than one picture. Images should be related to the topic you are writing about.
Don’t worry, even if you weren’t a great photographer. A beginner usually does pretty well with a smartphone camera. When you shoot a lot, you develop.
5. Write regularly
Simple: if you don’t write, you won’t get readers. If you can write your blog several times a week, great! Try to update your blog regularly and preferably frequently.
Still, you have to remember that quality is more important than quantity. Write a good post once a week rather than many boring and short posts every day.
However, don’t abandon your blog for long periods of time, as breaks will drive away readers.
6. Enter the text before publishing
A quality blog gets readers, and a quality blog contains quality texts. Aim for as good content as you possibly can.
When you have a good topic in mind, write a post about it, but don’t publish it right away. Let the text wait a moment, an hour, a day, or more.
Go back to it and think about whether you could add something or edit the text even better.
Finally, before publishing, check the text for typos. Look for punctuation, commas, and conjunctions. You can clarify your text by using shorter paragraphs, subheadings, listings, and numbers.
7. Read other people's blogs
You can learn to be a good writer by reading a lot. Read other people’s blogs, especially the same ones as yours.
Find other people’s blogs for ideas, tips, and good topics to write about. When you like a blog or blog post, think about why it’s good for you. Strive for the same yourself.
8. Remember some
Be sure also to use social media for networking. You can share your own texts on your Facebook page. You can also make your own Facebook page for your blog for this purpose.
If you like to take photos and your blog is image-focused, you can also set up an Instagram account with the same name as your blog.
