This is an article that contains tips and tricks to achieve better and clearer skin!
True beauty begins with a clean and clear palate. With all the advances in modern technology and great products on the market, we should all be privy to the luxury of beautiful skin. Getting there is half the battle, and it's important to remember that beautiful skin doesn't happen overnight. If you're prone to breakouts and oil, this can be an uphill battle. But if you stay committed to your skin care regimen, you'll be sure to see results in 2-3 weeks.
1) Be gentle
A. Although exfoliation is great at removing dead skin particles, there's no reason you should be exfoliating your face every day and night. Many scrubs on the market contain small pieces of sand that actually leave tiny micro-cuts on the skin that do more harm than good. You should look for an exfoliated compound that contains beads or round balls that gently remove dead skin cells from the top layer of skin. Also, avoid the extremely sensitive area around the eyes, as irritation to this area can accelerate the aging process.
2) Wash your face
A. Wash your face at least once a day. If you are someone who wears a lot of heavy foundations, it is important that you stick to this rule. You should wash your face before going to bed at night. It is not absolutely necessary to wash your face with any product in the morning, as this can strip your face of its natural oils and make your skin extra dry. You may want to splash your face with lukewarm water in the morning and pat dry – just to get rid of any build up overnight.
3) Keep your coatings clean
A. This is the main one. Even if you wash your face every night before you lay your head on the pillow, the fibers of your sheets are bound to have oil and makeup residue. It is important that you wash or change your pillowcases weekly to keep your skin as clean as possible.
4) Wash your makeup brushes
A. Makeup artists would never touch your face with dirty brushes, so why? You should wash your brushes at least once every two weeks. The bristles on your makeup brushes get into the pores of your skin and can absorb oil extremely quickly. When you continue to use the same unwashed brushes every day, you redistribute bacteria and oil to your face and your makeup products. Have you ever noticed oil build up on your brush or bronzer palettes? It's because you're using a dirty brush! Run hot water and some soup (or brush cleaner if you have it) and let the brushes dry, bristle side up.
5) Stop touching your face!
A. You have no idea where your hands have been. Especially if you work in an office with many people or at a desk with a keyboard. Your hands are full of bacteria, regardless of whether you wash them. Touching your face is a surefire way to trigger irritation and breakouts.
6) Use SPF foundation or tinted moisturizer
A. The sun's UV rays attack your skin—even through the clouds. Don't let the bad weather fool you into thinking your skin isn't getting some sun. It is important to protect the skin and neck from excessive sun exposure whenever possible. This means wearing a foundation or tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher every day. ON the days you're going to fry in the sun, kick it up to SPF 30 and keep reapplying!
7) Wash your face after the gym
A. Here's a caveat to the "wash your face once a day" rule. If you are someone who sweats all the time or goes to the gym every day, it is crucial for you to wash your face after exercising. Why? These drops of sweat settle in your pores and don't allow them to breathe! Waiting hours to wash your face after hitting the gym irritates your skin and encourages breakouts. Make sure you travel with your favorite face wash AND milk and wash your face after your workout.
8) Stick to your regimen!
A. Rome wasn't built in a day, and if you want your skin to clear up, you'll need to stick with the regimen for longer. It usually takes two to three weeks to see any improvement or change in your skin, so don't get discouraged! When you go from product to product, you don't give yourself the right chance to make a real change. Don't worry, you will see some results.
