1. Schooling days
Virat Kohli is the youngest of three children to late Prem Kohli and Saroj Kohli, a housewife. He has an elder brother Vikas and an elder sister Bhavana. Virat was a student of Vishal Bharati public school, and his favorite subject in school was history.
2. Gift to Sachin Tendulkar
The cricket fraternity was in tears when Sachin Tendulkar walked off the international cricket. Kholi, like millions of fans, was also emotional during that time.
In an interview, Tendulkar revealed that Virat had gifted him a pouch consisting of some threads on his retirement day. Tendulkar also revealed that Kholi told him that his father gave the bag to him.
3. The MRF deal In 2017
Virat's contract with MRF expired but the company didn't want to part ways with Kohli and they signed him for an eight-year deal worth more than 100 crores. According to the deal, Kohli is bound to receive 12 crores per year until the deal eventually expires in 2025.
4. Kohli used a fake name for his marriage
Social media erupted in December 2017 when Virat Kohli tied the knot with Anushka Sharma. The wedding was a private affair in Italy. Only 48 guests attended the wedding ceremony,y but calling an interview revealed that the couple had strictly told everyone not to show the news until they declare it.
To keep it a secret they even had used fake names for their bookings so that the media would have no clue about the wedding.
5. Drinks expensive water
Kholi is strict about his fitness regime and what he consumes, including the kind of water he drinks. According to sources, Kholi only drinks water from bottles that are imported from France. The type of water which holds consumers is known as Evian natural spring water. Every single unit of these package bottle sets boasts a price tag of about 600 rupees number.
6. India's valued celebrity
In 2017 Forbes magazine named Virat Kohli as India's most valuable celebrity brand. In 2018, Forbes magazine ranked Virat 83rd in the list of top 100 highest-grossing players. He's the only Indian player to get a place on that list.
7. Raced ahead of Barack Obama
In 2012, Virat was named one of the 10 best dressed international men, including former US president Barack Obama. The then 23-year-old Kholi was at number 3 in the list published by the well-known men's fashion magazine GQ. The list was headed by Irish german actor Michael Fassbender and included Canadian actor Ryan Gosling, actor vincent castle, and Obama who figured the last in that list.
8. Social media following
Just like his batting and captaincy records where he beats his rivals by massive margins, Kohli has managed to captivate his social media fans as well. Virat has over 123 million followers on Instagram alone, which could easily be a population of six or seven cricketing playing nations combined.
According to a hopper HQ's list released in 2020, Kohli emerged as the only cricketer in the world's top 24 list of highest-earning athletes through sponsored Instagram posts during the lockdown and overall at the 26th position.
