Top 8 habits to get rid of acne

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles plug-in oil and dead skin cells.
Acne is most common in teenagers and young adults.
Its causes are difficult to determine, but the over-secretion of the sebaceous glands is thought to trigger most acne outbreaks.
Pilocebaceous units are a combination of hair follicles and oil glands in the skin that are
found on skin tissue throughout the body, except for the surface of the palms and the soles of the feet.
The pilosebaceous units are responsible for secreting an oily substance called sebum. However,
due to several factors such as hormonal imbalance, stress and the natural condition of the skin,
the oil glands start producing a lot more sebum than normal.
When this happens, the excess oil clogs the pores of the skin. This process brings about bacterial infection and stimulates the immune system response.
Ultimately, acne is the result of inflammation.

Acne can affect any type of skin. While oily skin is most susceptible to acne, dry skin may not be so sensitive,
but both the skins can face severe outbreaks during winters. Normal skin is equally susceptible to acne but
the level of severity may not be as high.
Currently, acne is not yet completely curable, but it can be treated with several acne skin care methods.
Many people take the help of topical medications, which are applied to the surface of the skin.
Although the use of acne skin care products such as "pore strip pads" can remove whiteheads and blackheads,
but they will have no effect on the excess sebum produced.

It may be beneficial to adopt the following 8 simple tips to get rid of the problem:

1. Following a healthy, balanced diet can be beneficial in this disease. Therefore, your food intake should
include all the essential nutrients that are highly required for the efficient functioning of the body.
Some skin-friendly food choices include:
  • yellow and orange fruits and vegetables such as carrots, apricots, and sweet potatoes.
  • Spinach and other dark green and leafy vegetables.
  • Tomatoes.
2. Include plenty of fluids in your diet like water, juices. Minimize the intake of such fluids which are
carbonated(contains corbonates..)

3. Be gentle with your skin.
4. Keep washing your face with mild soap and water. The rationale behind this, is not to
remove dirt (as most acne sufferers experience) but to remove plugs on skin pores, which can be a
combination of dead skin cells, bacteria and hardened sebum. Although dirt doesn't actually cause acne,
it can contribute to further infection through interaction with skin debris and particles and excess oil in
the skin.
5. Use a cleansing pad that may contain one or a combination of the following: salicylic acid, sulfur
and benzoyl peroxide to remove excess oil. Another way to reduce the presence of excess oil in the skin is
to wash your face with the hottest water possible.
6. Minimize the use of cleansers that are too harsh and use acne skin care items that exfoliate lightly.
Do not scrub too vigorously whichever area is affected.

7. Avoid touching your face with dirty hands. Always touch the face with clean hands.

8. If you have long hair, then tie your hair in such a way that it stays away from the face.
Do this especially when the weather is hot and you are sweating.
