We all heard about dinosaurs, those amazing creatures that walk the face of the earth millions of years ago whose footprints gave anyone goosebumps. Here, some well-known types of dinosaurs.
1. Stegosaurus
It was a large dinosaur. It had unique bones that developed into plates and spines along its back and tail. It was a plant-eater. It had a brain that was the size of a ping pong ball. This is the most intriguing type of particularly due to their spiked back. They existed during the late Jurassic period. Some scientists believe that the flat plates were merely beautiful display made them attractive to other dinosaurs. They also believe these plates were used to dissipate heat.
2. Parasaurolophus
It had a strangely shaped head with a long curved crest shaped like a curved pipe pointing backward from the skull. It was a plant-eater. It could walk on either two legs or all four legs. This type of dinosaur was a hadrosaurid part of a diverse family of Cretaceous dinosaurs known for their range of bizarre head adornments. This genus is known for its large elaborate cranial crest, which at its largest forms a long curved tube projecting upwards and back from the skull.
3. Tyrannosaurus Rex
It was a tyrant lizard. It lived in present-day North America. It walked on two legs. It balanced its huge head with a long and heavy tail. It had the largest teeth among dinosaurs. Hence these dinosaurs are known to prey on the smaller breeds. It was one of the three dinosaurs that inspired Godzilla. This type of dinosaur is native to Eurasia and Cretaceous North America.
4. Allosaurus
It was a carnivore. It had big, sharp teeth, a large skull, and short arms with three fingers with sharp, curved claws. It walked on two legs. Its body and head were balanced by a long and heavy tail. It had a strong, Shaped neck and vertebrate that were different from other dinosaurs.
5.Spinosaurus
One of the most lethal species due to its aggressive behavior. It is even said that it exceeds the dimensions of the famous t-rex. It had huge spines that grew from its back. It lived around 100 million years ago in present-day North Africa. It had a long thin skull. It was the largest carnivorous dinosaur. It lived both on land and in water. It was the only aquatic swimming dinosaur.
6.Diplodocus
It had a long tail which contained around 80 vertebrate. It lived in present-day North America. Diplodocus is a genus of diplodocus sauropod dinosaurs whose fossils were first discovered in 1877 by S.W. Williston. It was the longest known dinosaur. Diplodocus was an herbivore (ate only plants ). It must have eaten a tremendous amount of plant material each day to sustain itself.
7.Ankylosaurus
Also referred to as the armored dinosaur, this happens to be one of the last standing dinosaurs about 65 million years ago that was long before extinction, and that is because they are gentle and slow-witted. It was a large dinosaur. It was a plant-eater and had small teeth. Huge plates of bone helped protect it. It had a tail club that it could use to break the bones of another dinosaur.
8.Brachiosaurus
One of the longest species that existed, measuring an approximate length of 85 feet, is considered one of the most famous dinosaur species among paleontologists and the general public; with that size, it’s difficult to go unnotice.d It was a huge dinosaur that ate up to 200 to 400 kilograms of plants every day. It walked on all four legs. It had a small tail.
