1. The Battle of Pratapgadh:
           The battle of pratapgadh was the first conquest of Maratha which led to the establishment of the Maratha Empire, which was held on November 10, 1659. Fighting Shivaji, Afzal Khan began destroying the Bhavani temples in Tuljapur and the Vittal temple in Pandharpur. Failing to do so, Khan and his army moved to Pratapgad. Shivaji sent an interview message to Afzal khan and decided to meet downstairs with ten unarmed soldiers.
            During the meeting, Khan was wearing a small sword in his jacket, and Shivaji was wearing armor under his clothes and carrying a wagh Sakha (leopard claw). While embracing Khan, he tried to strangle Shivaji but was rescued due to military uniforms. Shivaji fought using wagh nakha. Khan suffered serious injuries during the outbreak and died.

 

 


2.The Battle of Pavankhind (1660):
           After loosening the battle from Shivaji, the Mughals decided to create an alliance with Adil shah to end Shivaji.
                      In 1660, the famous Abyssinian general Siddi Jauhar planned to attack Shivaji on the South border while the Mughals were on the north side. In addition, the British offered their support to the Mughals.
                                 By then, Shivaji and his army were in Panhala, Kolhapur. Mughal also blocked the route to create a problem. Shivaji has decided to flee the panacea.
                                            The battle killed 200 Maratha and 1,400 enemy soldiers. The battle led to the loss of the Panhala fortress to Siddi Jauhar.

 

 


3. The Battle of the Umberkhind (1661):
         The battle was fought on February 3, 1661, between Shivaji and Uzbek General Kartalab Khan. The purpose of the war was to reduce Shivaji's power in the Konkan region.
           Mughal did not attack openly, and while on their way to Konkan, they captured Lohagad and Rajmachi. But Shivaji was well prepared for the battle and attacked Khan and his troops at Umberkhind,
           As a result of an unexpected attack from the Maratha, the Mughals stopped fighting and offered their plan to defeat Konkan. The war improved the Maratha culture and provided them with adequate arms and ammunition for their next battle.


           
4. The Battle of Poona (1663)
          The Poona war is one of Shivaji Maharaj's great strategic battles. In January 1660, Aurangazeb's maternal uncle Shaista Khan and his well-armed army of 3,000,000 captured Pune and established his residence at the Shivaji palace of Lal Mahal.     
                 In April 1663, Shivaji and 200 Maratha marched into Pune, using the wedding procession as a cover. Shivaji's army invaded Khan's residence and killed his sons and other family members. Khan escaped but lost his thumb. He took refuge with the Mughal army and was later transferred to Bengal by Aurangazeb out of shame.

 

 

5.The Battle of Surat (1664)
            After gaining part of Maharashtra, shivaji Maharaj sought to expand the empire. The battle of surat, also known as the Sack of Surat, was fought on January 5, 1664, and was fought between Shivaji Maharaj and Inayat Khan.
                 In the battle, Shivaji challenged Mughal Fauzdar of Surat and attacked Surat. The city was evicted for almost three weeks when the Maratha army plundered all the wealth of Mughal and Portugal. The wealth was later used to develop and strengthen the Maratha empire.

 

6. The Battle of Sinhagad (1670)       The battle of Sinhagad was fought between Tanaji Malusare and Udaybhan Rathod, a former Mughal Army Chief Jai Singh, I February 4, 1670.
          Tanaji and a small army were sent on a campaign to capture the Kondana fort. The fort was under the Mughal rule. They attacked at night with small armies, the resumption of victory was secured but with the loss of Tanaji.
          "Gadh ala pan sinh gela" (we won our lion but lost) words from Shivaji maharaj. As a tribute to Tanaji, Shivaji renamed the castle 'Sinhagad'.

 

 


7.Mysore Plateau War (1677)
          The battle was fought between Shivaji and his stepfather Venkoji on November 26, 1677. Shivaji won the battle and conquered much of the plain of Mysore.
            After the war, Dipa bai (venkoji's wife) took on the role of negotiator. Shivaji respects his sisters-in-law as to why, after negotiations and under certain conditions, Shivaji reclaimed the former occupation of Venkoji. Repeatedly, Venkoji distanced himself from Adil Shah and his advisers.
