Fitness is an essential part of our life. Fitness and health go hand in hand. With good health, one can achieve success. Staying fit can prevent the risk of heart attack, cancer, and other health-related issues. Fitness doesn't only come with physical exercise. A balanced diet containing a sufficient amount of nourishing food is essential. So, physical exercise along with a balanced diet can do wonders.
7 billion people in this world, some are worried about losing weight and some about gaining. They say gaining weight is much easier than losing, but IT IS NOT. Both are difficult tasks in their own way.
Being underweight can sometimes lead to malnutrition which causes many health-related problems. It is necessary to stay fit and healthy to avoid various health issues.
To all the people out there hoping to gain weight, I have come up with some effective foods that could help you gain weight.
1) Milk and milk products.
Milk is a great source of calories and protein, and it contains essential nutrients to help you build muscles and gain weight safely. Milk comes in various varieties, but the most commonly used is cow's milk which contains carbohydrates, fat, calcium, and various other essential nutrients. 1 cup of cow milk has approximately 12grams of carbohydrates and 8grams of protein.
Anyone with lactose intolerance or milk allergy should avoid cow milk. They could use Soya milk, cashew milk, almond milk instead.
Milk products like cheese, butter, paneer are also a great source of calories, proteins, and fats.
Milk smoothies such as peanut butter and banana smoothie, milkshakes, a bowl of cornflakes with milk can be effective.
2)Rice.
Rice is a rich source of carbohydrates and contains a great amount of protein and fiber. One cup of rice provides nearly 200 calories which help in the gaining of weight. Rice should be combined with any other calorie-rich food for weight gain. Brown rice, in comparison to white rice, is a better source of protein and is much healthier.
3)Nuts and nuts butter.
Nuts are a good source of protein and carbohydrates, and consuming them regularly can help you gain weight. Nuts can be consumed before and after workouts. It can be used to cook meals and a quick snack or even for a salad. Nuts can be eaten dry or roasted. Nuts soaked in water at night and consumed in the morning have more beneficial properties.
Nut butter like almond butter, peanut butter, hazelnut butter provides energy, zinc, calcium, and protein. It should be consumed daily for gaining weight.
4)Potato and sweet potato.
Food containing starch such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, beans, and other starches contains good carbs and calories, promoting weight gain. These starch-rich food helps to increase muscle glycogen stores. Most of these carb sources provide various nutrients and fiber. According to a study, some starchy foods contain resistant starch, which helps to nourish gut bacteria. Simple potato fry or baked sweet potato can be a healthier choice for you.
5)Egg.
Egg contains healthy fat and promotes muscle building. The egg is a rich source of protein. When it comes to losing weight, egg yolk is advised to be taken out, but in case of weight gaining, egg consumed with egg yolk is highly beneficial. It encourages muscle building and provides strength to the muscles. Omelets, egg bhurji, egg curry, or even boiled eggs can work the best for weight gaining.
6) Oily fish.
Oily fish contains Omega-3 fatty acids and is very high in calories. A study shows that oily fish such as salmon helps to reduce the risk of heart attack, cancer, and arthritis. The fatty acids present in it are beneficial for the cardiovascular system. Consuming salmon or tuna once or twice a week can help you in your weight gain journey.
