It has been known from a survey that 80% of causes of anxiety and tension are to live in the past or the future, abandoning the present. It is required, therefore, to live and focus in the present moment. When you endured the ‘yesterday,’ it, at that time, was nothing but ‘present.’ Yesterday does not exist, and it's just a memory.
The same thing applies to ‘Tomorrow’ also. The future is just an imagination and nothing else. When you are going to feel the future, it will get converted, at that time, to ‘present.’ So ‘present’ is within our reach and full control. So feeling and enduring this ‘present’ is the only way left to us. All other ways will definitely bring us anxiety and tension in our life.
Thus, in this regard, let's discuss and follow the bellow mentioned affirmations and make them applicable to our life, whenever possible.
1. Pay Attention to Your Surroundings
Place your legs on the floor and sit comfortably with a straight spine/back. (when the spine is not straight, it leads to the free flow of energy and causes disease of lack of circulation in the long run). Keep your eyes shut and try to experience different sounds occurring around you. Feel the smell, sensitivity around you. This is the moment of ‘present.’
2. Concentrate at the Present Moment
Wait for a moment, and feel that all your experiences are concentrated at the present moment. The pleasant your present moment is, the comfortable your future is going to be. This is because the present is the cause of the future as well as its precursor.
For example, look at your hands. Your hands are present at ‘present’ only. Rub your fingers together and feel the warmth. This is one of the great experiences to keep and make us feel at present, and hence aids in calming the mind.
3.Yesterday is Gone and Tomorrow is just Imagination
The Present moment is the only time where you are capable of doing your work. You may feel that you have also worked ‘yesterday.’ But know that ‘yesterday’ is no more. It's just a memory. You may plan for the future; however, it becomes the present when you are set to work for it.
4.Focus During your Journey too
When we are on a journey, we always aspire for the happiness that we will experience the moment we get there. Try to experience and feel the moment at this present; for example, try to experience your surrounding, the breeze of air blowing around you, sounds of air, the sound of the vehicle you are traveling on, the sky, the clouds, the world around you, etc.
5.Do this Exercise
Touch the tip of the tongue slowly to the roof of your mouth. At the same time, breathe slowly. Feel the touch of your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This is one of the ways to stop the internal chattering of the mind that takes you away from the present.
6.Do this to Work in a Better way
Before beginning an important job, take some time and try to relax and focus. Then get yourself clear about what you are going to do. Once you know your job and bring yourself to the ‘present,’ begin the job.
From a survey, it is already known that people are not ‘present-focussed. It has to be realized that we are not our thoughts. Instead, they consider and think about what is going to happen tomorrow or enjoy living in the past. When you can bring your attention to the present, you will be able to do your work more virtually and enjoy things in a better way. Hence try to connect with your present more effectively.
To experience the happiness of being present, try to experience every moment as a miracle in life.
