It is situated on the Bay of Bengal about 60 km 37 miles south of the state capital of Bhubaneswar. 

It is a coastal city and a municipality in the state of Odisha. It is also known as Sri Jagannath Dham after the 12th century Jagannath temple located in puri. 

 

1.     JAGANNATH TEMPLE

Jagannath temple is dedicated to Jagannath.

 

Odisha is known as the land of Lord Jagannath.

The temple built in the 12th century AD has been the epicenter of the Jagannath cult. The temple of puriform all corners of the world throughout the year

 

Puri is famous for Ratha Yatra, or the car festival, held in June-July, attended by more than 1 million people.

 

The Ratha (chariot) are huge wooden Structures provided with large wheels, which are built anew every year and are pulled by the devotees. The Ratha (chariot) for Lord Jagannath is about 45 feet (14 m) high & 35 square feet (3.3m²) and takes about 2 months for its construction.

 

The Ratha (chariot) is mounted with 16 wheels, 7 feet (2.1m) diameter. The carving in the front face of the chariot has 4 wooden horses drawn by Maruti. On its other three faces, the wooden carvings are Rama, Surya & Vishnu. The chariot is known as Nandi Ghosha ratha. The roof of the chariot is covered with yellow and red colored cloth.

 

The next chariot is Bala Bhadra which is about 44 feet high and fitted with 14 wheels. The chariot is carved with satyaki as the charioteer, roof covered in red & green colored cloth, and the chariot is known as taladhwaja. 

 

The next chariot is the order is of Subhadra, which is about 43 feet in height supported on 12 wheels, roof covered in red & black color cloth & the chariot is known as DARPA Dalian.

2.         PURI SEA BEACH

Puri beach or the golden beach in the city of puri in the state of Odisha, India. It is on the shore of the Bay of Bengal.

It is a monumental representation of the sun god Surya's chariot, Its 24 wheels are decorated with symbolic designs, and it is led by a team of 6 horses. 

 

Konark sun temple is famous for its unique architecture. Its geometrical patterns and carved wheels are used to serve as sundials.

 

The sun temple, the beach, the rich culture, and heritage make Konark one of the most popular tourist destinations of Odisha. It is also home to dance, music, and festivals, one of India's oldest and popular cultural festivals.

 

4.       LINGARAJ TEMPLE

Lingaraj temple is located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Lingaraj temple, built in the 11th century, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the oldest temples in Bhubaneswar and is considered the largest temple of the city. Built by King jati of soma vanish, the main tower of this temple measures 180 feet in height. It is built in red stone.

 

5. SIMILIPAL NATIONAL PARK

Similipal derives its name from simul the abundance of red silk cotton trees growing in the area. It is a national park & a tiger reserve situated in the northern part of Odisha Mayurbhanj district. 

 

The park is known for the tiger, Mayurbhanj elephant's, & hill mynah. It holds the highest tiger population in the state of Odisha.

 

55 species of mammals, 304 species of birds, 60 species of reptiles, 21 species of frog, 38 species of fish, and 164 species of butterflies. Have been recorded from the park. 

 

Apart from the tiger, the major mammals are leopard, sambar, barking deer, gaur, jungle cats, wild boar, four-horned antelope, giant squirrel, common langur. Grey hornbill, Indian pied hornbill and malabar pied hornbill are also found here. The park also has a sizeable population of reptiles, which includes the longest venomous snakes, the king cobra, and the tricarinate hill

turtle.
