A visitor visiting your site can be a valuable client. It has been a difficult task to find that site visitor in the first place, so you should make every effort to encourage a potential client to return. The important thing is that once a visitor finds what they are looking for quickly and easily, they are more likely to return to your site.
There are six strategies you can use to help get visitors back to your site.
1. Email Newsletters
2. Bookmark Buttons
3. Occasional updates
4. Games
5. Contests
6. Message Boards.
Newsletter is probably the best tool to get people back to your website. To have a newsletter, you just need a simple form on your website to collect user email addresses and email clients. That's all! If you want to go for the lowest technology, just have a little text that says, "Email us to [email protected] to join our Newsletter." If you already have a few people to send to the newsletter, try to think of ways to provide useful information to potential clients. Maybe you will give discounts to newsletter members, or maybe send them articles on topics related to your site. Keep a link for subscribers to sign out. And don't forget to ask newsletter readers to visit your website for all the newsletters you submit. The bookmark button reminds people who visit your site that they may want to visit your site again. When people bookmark your site, they are more likely to come back. Bookmarks can easily be created in JavaScript. Timeline Update It may be a quote from the day or a picture of the day or new articles every month or week. Anything that will make visitors want to come back, so they can review the next, will suffice. Once you have decided what your periodic review is, remind your guests to come back for a review. It would not do much good if your visitors did not know about your reviews. Games with Flash or JavaScript can be easy, but very fun. Perfect examples are those Orbit, ads. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Orbit, has Flash game ads that include golf, pitching, piloting blimps and other fun things. They are really simple and are designed to get clicks beyond repeating a business, as games are ads, but on a website, the same games can make visitors come back. Competitions are ideal for web development and redirecting people to websites. People who enter a competition that you can sponsor will want to come back and see if they have won. Also, if it is a user submission competition, people will want to come back to see the winners - especially if they have won! You can even find people who send word of your competition to their friends. Viral marketing, when friends tell friends etc. works very well. Message boards can be a second home for other people. If you have an active board, people will come to your website to see what people are posting. No matter what you choose, just make sure you give them a reason to return.
