1. LIC
It stands for life Insurance Corporation of India. It is the oldest, largest, and most profitable life insurance company in India. It is under the ownership of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It has been present in this sector for six decades. The first company in India offering life insurance coverage was established in Kolkata in 1818. Over 245 insurance companies and provident societies were merged to create the state-owned life insurance corporation of India. Its slogan, “Yogakshemam Vahamyaham’, means ‘your welfare is our responsibility.’
2.NCERT
National Council of Educational Research and Training is a literacy, scientific and charitable society that publishes textbooks on all subjects from 1st to 12th. These books are available in many languages. The books can be downloaded for free from the e-pathshala link. It is an autonomous organization of the government of India. Its headquarter are located in New Delhi. It was formed by merging 7 existing national government institutions, namely the Central Institute of Education, The Central Bureau of Textbook Research, The national fundamental education center. That is separate from the National Council for Teacher Education.
3. CBFC
It stands for Central Board of Film Certification. Films screened in cinemas and on television may only be publicly exhibited in India after certification by the board. The Central Board of Film Certification certifies films as ‘U’ (unrestricted, public exhibition ); ‘A’ (restricted to adult audiences ), ‘UA’ (parental guidance for children below 12 ); and ‘S’ (restricted to the specialized audiences such as doctors or scientists) The board, headquartered in Mumbai, has nine regional offices.
4.PCI
Press Council Of India was first established in the year 1966. The council has a chairman –traditionally, a retired supreme court judge and 28 additional members, of which 20 members of media are nominated by the newspaper, television channels in India. Its objective is to maintain the freedom to publish newspapers and magazines without government restriction. If a reader has any complaint against the newspaper, then the Press Council of India is the best approach.
5.CSIR
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research was established by the Government of India in 1942 as a research and development organization in India. It is known for its cutting-edge R &D knowledge base in diverse S &T areas.CSIR has a dynamic network of 37 national laboratories, 39 outreach centers, and 5 units with a pan India presence. It fought the legal battle over the turmeric patent granted by the US Patent and Trademark office and won it .
6.DRDO
The Defence Research and Development Organization is a government organization responsible for developing defense technology in India. In 2015, J Manjula was appointed as the first woman Director-General. It was formed in 1958, headquartered in Delhi. The organization includes around 5000 scientists belonging to the DRDS and about 25000 other subordinate scientific, technical, and supporting personnel. Since it started, DRDO has created other major systems and critical technologies such as aircraft avionics, EW system, small arms, command, control systems, and missile systems.
